Most "hidden tracks" would be in violation as well. However, in this particular case, Tool would have a better chance of winning the lawsuit, as their album Undertow includes 59 1-second tracks of silence between the 9th song and Disgustipated, which opens with one second of silence. And yes, the vinyl and CD both have the gaps removed.
Here's one we've been using for years... bob504@hotmail.com I haven't had one registration reject it yet:-) You think after 3-4 years they would've caught on, but noooooo.
I don't mean to nag, but aestheticism means "the quality of being visually pleasing." I believe the word you are looking for is asceticism (sp?) like the Samanas of eastern Asia.
On the other hand, if these people are powerless, they won't have any light to appreciate the aesthetic furniture in their living room.:-)
To answer your question as to whether or not we should understand the inner workings of every tool we use, I bellow YES! This *is* the essence of the hacker ethic, and is something that we should strive for. No one says you have to build your own microwaves (how _COOL_ would that be:) but you should at least understand the reason that it only cooks *moist* food (read burrito) quickly.
