There's a sense in which Google is being unreasonable. On the other hand, what goes around comes around, instant Karma and all that. I don't mind Microsoft getting a jab in the heart.
Exactly, you nailed it. The small benefit of being able to enforce GPL is outweighed by all the code that could suddenly turn up. There might have to be changes to trade secret laws as well though.
I thought MS's big argument against Linux was that MS would stand behind their product and its intellectual status.
Now they're telling me that if I use Windows in China, AT&T can come sue me because MS won't back up their product? So why not just go with Linux to begin with?
Well, it's probably better to be in an emerging and growing technology, than a large but shrinking technology. Wages in the former will be on the way up, and in the latter will be in decline due to a growing supply/demand imbalance.
I don't see why the private contractual arrangments between you and your ISP would affect whether you are an ISP according to the DMCA. A few problems with your persoanl contractual arrangments wouldn't usually affect something like that. (Someone who's read the DMCA prove me wrong).
As for forbidding "resharing", how on earth can they ask for that? Can I share with my wife? Kids? Friends? Boarders? Relatives? Guests? That's a ridiculous clause if such things exist.
I actually used Dvorak for about 10 years, and I'm a programmer. But a few months ago I actually switched back. The reason was I was tired of having to adapt to qwerty when I found myself at someone else's keyboard. Another reason is I have a Macbook pro with the illuminated keyboard, which is a waste of time if I'm switching layouts, and I couldn't be bothered finding out how hard it would be to switch keys. Besides which the little bumps on F and J don't work when you switch.
So what do I think? Yes, Dvorak is definitely a better layout, and it does help in real life. On the other hand, unless you're a secretary typing pages and pages, I'm not quite sure if it is worth it with the hassle of always being the odd man out. It might be worth it, kind of a toss up, but I'm not planning to switch back to Dvorak any time soon. Besides which, new layouts like Colemak might be even better than Dvorak. If you're going to switch and go through the hassle, it might as well be be the best layout, right? The L on Dvorak is rather poorly placed and Colemak retains the Qwerty cut and paste keys.
One wonders what would happen with child support payments if the two sperms came from a different father. I doubt the rules and regulations know how to deal with that one.
If they are, the first court case and it would be game over, cat out of the bag, and Seagate's product would be dead in the water with 5000 inpending lawsuits against them.
You'll probably find it a bit of a disaster if you are the stereotypical developer. You'll be secretly hacking some personal project instead of making sales calls.
>So every user complaining about this policy from MS, should also >write a letter to Apple demanding they let OSX run in VMs legally as well.
Why? I have a need to run Windows in a VM, but I don't have a need at the moment to run OSX in a VM. As soon as I do, I'll write that letter to Apple, but right now all I care about is MS leveraging their illegal monopoly against those trying to switch to Mac.
>Why don't you use XP? Do share with us the vista-specific app you must run on your mac.
It's not Vista specific. But more than likely, in three years time, the latest version of this app WILL be Vista specific. And since I had to buy a version of Windows, and I'll be damned if I want to give MS more money in three years time, I bought Vista. What is your attitude problem?
>Hold on. $AUD? I thought Australians said couldn't care less?
Huh??? I couldn't care less about the features of Windows Ultimate. Damned if I want to give MS more money because of their stupid "no VM" clause, when I'll be making minimal use of it.
Maybe arbitary conventions are the problem. Use however many columns you want, convention be damned.

Ahem. Ever downloaded an ipod game?
Maybe the problem isn't low corn prices, it is high land prices.

So you're outside a block of flats and you want us to knock on 100 doors to find the owner?

It doesn't have to pass the Turing test, it merely has to be a useful teaching aid. A much lower standard to reach.
Great for video encoding and ripping DVDs to H264.
No, we're talking about one child with 50% of Suzie, 25% Joe and 25% Steve.

Maybe, except that not many assembly programmers can make faster code than a C compiler anyway. It's no use being a mediocre assembly programmer.
Uh, they have Universal movies too, plus the various TV shows they sell.

There definitely are swing gui problems from time to time. Not fatal ones usually, but ones that need to be fixed.
In other news, and explosion centred on London hospital with the energy of a thousand suns obliterated central London yesterday.....

If we're not going to heaven, and we're just a bunch of
walking chemicals, who cares if we are uneducated? At best,
it matters not one whit.
Idiot boy, I didn't say "I could care less", I said "I couldn't care less".
>Just because your Mac won't run VIsta is no fault of the Mac,
>or VIsta. It's merely a lack of convenience specifically for you.
Ahh, but it does run Vista under vmware. Perfectly fine in fact.
What it doesn't run is MS's brain dead licence agreement.
Do try brushing up on your comprehension skills, which are also brain
dead.
