Ardour is a digital audio workstation. You can use it to record, edit and mix multi-track audio. Produce your own CD's. Mix video soundtracks. Experiment with new ideas about music and sound. Generate sound installations for 12 speaker gallery shows. Have Fun.
As in all things Ask Slashdot related, once again google is your friend. In this case more specificaly google groups: http://groups.google.com
I've always had good luck there, most of the questions you're likely to have will have already been answered, you just have to sift the newsgroups a little.
I mean, the story just before this one was about apple releasing new versions of Final Cut, Shake and DVD Studio. Now another release?! Their turn around is like 30 min!! Amazing!!
Could this line of research also lead to the development of a pill that could induce remorseful feelings? If so, what would be the implications of administering such a drug to criminals? Kinda reminds me of a stupid episode of Sliders (yes I know, redundant statment) where they had the 'police' officers who went around medicating everyone... strange.
I would suggest not doing this until the makers of the XBox Media Player have settled the following issue from http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/:
Some win32 guys made a media player for Micro$oft's well-known "console", the X-box. Unfortunately they used FFMPEG and XVID sources in their closed-source product, and failed to make their sources - and changes to the used GPL codebase - available either in public, or by request - as the GPL license forces them to do so. They can't be contacted because they don't publish their E-Mail addresses due to an expectable threat from M$, or whatever their reasons are.
This violates GPL.
As we currently cannot move against them (not that we want to do so, in the first place), we can only warn the open-source community to
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PIECE OF PIRATED SOFTWARE!
It's a pity that so much people don't give a shit about the tireless work of FFMPEG/XVID creators.
I use the Royal Bank's online banking here in Canada and have found no problems with it using both Galeon and Opera for at least a year now.
On the other hand, my girlfriend has been having trouble using IE 5.5 with the Bank of Montreal's site for quite some time... she usually ends up using my box and using Galeon to view it. Go figure.
At no point should your design impede the dissemination of information. If someone wants to look at pretty pictures they can go to an art gallery. That said, your website should be pleasing to the eye, but in a way that makes it easy to navigate and read... not in way that makes art students drool.
Also, please take the time to test your website on multiple platforms in multiple browsers, you may or may not be surprised at how easy it is for your amazing design to be rendered completely useless by some browser's crappy rendering engine.
For anyone intrested in seeing the site who is currently connected through a telus account, you can use the following url:

Check out http://www.ardour.org. From their site:

Just happened to see this on Freshmeat today:

Looks like it might be appropriate, OSS and GPLed

I hope his security system isn't on the same box as his webserver or we may have just locked him out of his house... hope its not raining.
Just my two cents.
