Have you by chance tried the Harmony Remote? It's task based, so for example you click to watch a DVD and it executes all the remote commands for you. FWIW, Jakob Nielsen appears to like it
Back and Forward in the browser behave *exactly* like Undo and Redo. This is a very familiar and easy to follow paradigm. Muck with it and I guarantee you'll get unexpected and unintuitive results.
See, if this happens, then we'll start to see massive political donations by viagra vendors, multi-level marketers, Nigerian political refugees, and animal porn sites.

They need a way to tell the computer "I want to use Word."
I disagree -- they need a way to tell the computer "I want to write a letter," or at another level "I need to get this done so I can go to lunch." That's a very important and fundamental paradigm shift that we as engineers are responsible for assuming; rather than contemplating the nature of "programs" and "processes", the user is best off focusing on accomplishing his/her end goals without even knowing that the concept of a "program" even exists.
Yes, population growth will become level by 2050. But that has nothing to do with resource consumption. If you have a large number of people consuming resources at a rate faster than which they are able to be replenished, then the fact that the number of people remains stable is irrelevant. At some point, all of the resources will be consumed. I think that's the point of this article.
The article is, of course, overblown in a typically political way. But can anyone really prove that we're not using resources faster than they can be replenished? It's a valid concern.
Boy, is McAfee the FBI's bitch or what? Clearly this press release was the direct result of communications between the FBI and McAfee. Someone at the FBI is not happy with the way McAfee is shooting their mouth off. I wonder why McAfee is going so far out of their way to appease the FBI?

I see a business opportunity here. Any enterprising people out there who want to hook up paying Linux support seekers with contracting RTFMers?
