Here is yet another fine example of how the stupid theory of evolution is merely a hindrance to science. Instead of keeping an open mind when exploring this revolutionary topic, the scientists are making assumptions from an evolutionary standpoint. Any open minded scientist will admit that evolution is no more of a fact than is creation.
The webpage link you sent seems to do a lot of bashing concerning Hovind's credentials. However, his credentials mean absolutely nothing. Do you happen to remember Darwin's backround?! Attacking someone's credentials just shows that you can't argue against their viewpoints, so you try to make them look bad by attacking them as a person.
Also, like one previous person said...beneficial mutations are just a theory on top of a theory. And you call this science? And how bout the origin of time, space, and matter? (E = mc^2) And the origin of life? It seems this "scientific" theory is based on faith just as much if not more than any other religion.
Actually, the earth was only created only about 6,000 years ago. And the earth was MUCH different back then You should do a little research on the canapy theory...you might learn a little.
I think it is interesting how the textbooks teach kids about evolution by using deceitful tactics. They give examples of harmful mutations, yet they tell the kids that beneficial mutations are important in the process of evolution. I think that's because there is no such thing as a beneficial mutation! And if there is, it is probably so minor that it would not help advance the species in any significant way. It's certainly not going to turn algae into a tree. I think you all need to give up your theory.
This is sort of off topic...but related to evolution. I heard a theory about the failures of the Miller-Urey experiment, but it wasn't very technical. I was wondering if anyone could verify this or explain it more (since I'm not much of a chemistry buff). Here it is...when doing the experiment, they purposely left out oxygen because they couldn't get anything useful to form in its presence. But without oxygen, there is no ozone. And without ozone, the UV rays would be much more intense and "destroy" the ammonia. That's where I'm not too clear. What does UV do to ammonia? It's definitely an interesting thought though.

It is absolutely impossible to understand our world today without reading the Bible. I know most readers on/. probably don't agree with me, so I enjoy stirring up trouble with messages like this:-) Standard currency is just another step towards a one world government predicted in the Bible. Do your research, and you might be surprised how well it all fits together.
Reading this message board makes me sick sometimes. I understand that there are people of other religions that do not celebrate Christmas. But aside from that, it is obvious that the large majority of/. readers are humanists who need to straighten out several things...first their beliefs...and second their priorities.
It is sad to see that indoctrination of evolution in public schools has caused so much of the scientific community to accept the ridiculous world view. Well, I guess it's just another sign of the times. We are getting closer and closer to a one world government just like the Bible predicts. And of course the only way to effectively establish a one world government is to get people to reject religion. That is where evolution comes into play. It all fits together so clearly. Hitler said,"Let me control the textbooks, and I will control the state." Anyway....all of this is a huge tangent that deserves much more consideration than the few words I have spoken here. Check out www.drdino.com for more info.
Secondly...whether you people are religious or not...can't you take one day off to relax and be with friends or family?! Or is money more important? True, I am sitting here on the computer now, but that's only because everyone else has gone to bed.
Am I the loner here, or does anyone else agree with me??!!
Well, even if he didn't intend for it to be a Christian allegory, it sure came out that way. It does not deal with the resurrection, but rather the original sin. Granted, I have never read any of the books, and I only saw the movie once....so I don't know what will happen...but after seeing the first movie, it is clear...
Satan deceived man by saying "ye shall be as Gods." This temptation led to the original sin, the fall of man, and is the reason for all of the death and suffering in the world today. In the same way, the ring could have been discarded, but the desire for power got in the way and brought great evil into the world.
Although man sinned, God does not want us to go to hell. Instead, He sent His son to pay the price for us. In the same way, a few individuals in the movie are on a mission to rid the land from evil.
Like I said, I haven't read the books, and I don't know what will happen. However, the parallels in the first movie are as clear as day.
I am also someone who is normally completely uninterested in fantasy or science fiction movies. Considering I am an electrical engineering major and I have a strong interest in science and tech, I guess I would have to say that I define the stereotypical techie description in this sense. However, it should be obvious why LOTR is so popular. It is based on a piece of literature, so it is much deeper than the average fantasy story. Anyone with half a brain can see that the movie is a Christian allegory. The story is also appealing to little kids who just like to see beasts and wizard fighing. So, in conclusion...the movie appeals to nerds who like fantasy, people who like to think and actually find meaning in stories, and little kids.
I agree 100%. Most of the readers on/. are liberal humanists who would not understand something like this. But it should be obvious to any enlightened person that we are nearing the end times...and this is just another sign.
