First we have Rio De Jenero say that a Simpson's episode doesn't accurately portray the city (It's not a jungle infested with rats and monkeys and that protrayal hurt Rio's feelings), Now it's happening in the US. Has anyone heard of fiction? Huh, huh?
Well, I got a renewal such as this. But the domain wasn't even one that I owned. I figured it was just a scam to sell popular domains that know one had used yet. It was actually registered by someone else. I guess their looking for runners up if the owner doesn't renew. Sheesh!
"Discovering that the younger generation has taken to using thumbs in a completely different way and are instinctively using thumbs where the rest of us are using our index fingers is particularly interesting."
I can exactly think of anything that we used to use our index fingers for that now we use our thumbs for other that data entry. And how exactly did we use our thumbs then that makes us using them different now? We used to sit around with our thumbs up our asses, but now we can text message with them, eliminating the bordom I guess.
I would suggest looking at the Jabber Instant messaging system. It's is a very welcoming crowd, and there is much work to be done. If your into C then you can help with the server. Perl, XML, Java, Python, and whatever else your niche might be, there is a need for it.

I work for a man who graduated from college with a bachlor's in Physics and Mathmatics. He is currently the Head Network Engineer. But he does have a ton of self taught knowledge in the computer field. Not to mention various other computer qualification certificates.
I just goes to show you that it's not impossible if you have your mind set to it. I think that it's scary putting so much money into the education for a career that you may change in your life time many times. So it's good to know that It isn't completly wasted if you have a fairly general major and not a BA in something obscure and un-marketable.
Well I have never been a huge fan of Mac's, simply because I was use to DOS when I was first intoduced to them. Although, I thought that the GUI interface was terrific. Unlike anything I had ever seen. It's been many years since then. An about six month ago I was intoduced to Linux and it's GUIs. The only different is that with linux I had exactly what I wanted when I used dos. Control. I haven't use a Mac since the 1988. I have always thought that it was stupid to be proprietary. If Gnome can be run under OS X then that's terrific. Who cares what others invision for the GUI. Personally I think that anyones vision is valid and if there are enough that agree with that vision, something should and hopefully will be done about it. I would like to see more Linux OSes for the MAC. Maybe that would compel me to give them a shot.
