    Though I haven't tried the new Ubuntu, the previous version didn't initialize the wifi card on my Dell D620. It recognized it but wouldn't fire it up.

    I'm just sayin'...I love Linux, Man. I'm with ya. But I haven't run it in quite some time due to the hoops I have to go through to get my wifi working only to have an update break it...using the same module. :(

    No. This means there another X server thrown into the mix. Superior? Probably. Will it matter? Not likely. It's simply another piece of code to be debated and which will stave off Linux on the Desktop another 5 years.

    The great thing about collaboration is that people can all contribute to a multitude of projects. The bad thing is that there's a multitude of projects.

    Speaking of thermometers, didn't a researcher recently find that many of the devices used in California, for instance, to measure temperature were in places like hot tarmacs at airports and next to A/C compressors outside buildings? Yeah, I'll take "human induced" global warming more seriously when grant-hungry research teams stop padding the odds.

    As much as I am loath to say this, I seriously doubt Microsoft has to worry about Google-apps. Corp-America is not going to go Google-apps. But mind you, they WILL worry. Because Microsoft is so fucking egotistical as a company they can't envision anyone having something successful besides them. It pisses them off, esp. Balmer. They just can't accept that they should stick to what they're good at (were good?). If they put as much effort into making Windows better it WOULD be. They chased the search market in vain and the mp3 player in vain. They're a spoiled company that thinks they should have it because they want it. Microsoft never innovates. They copy or buy. They usually fail at copying. The XBox is a noted example of something they copied and succeeded at gaining market. Keep at it, MS! Pursue! The more money you waste on shit like online apps the more that won't go into Windows! Which is fine. The world would be better off if more people would move on to another OS.
