Hopefully they'll make the game as balanced as starcraft, and, hopefully, longer lasting online than starcraft (it takes less than 15 minutes for most starcraft games, unless you are super-defense).
The short games is more a function of battle.net and the modified maps than it is of StarCraft itself. Big Game Hunters which is a high resource map came out and eliminated the need for players to worry about base expansion tactics. It also had the effect of creating lame things like cannon pushes and mass rushes because people weren't so concerned about using up resources early. StarCraft is capable of longer and more tactical games, but that isn't what the battle.net crowd was into.
If you are a game developer it's less of a risk to develop for the Game Cube than it is the XBOX. Wouldn't you rather put your efforts into developing something for a system put out by a company with a proven track record in the console industry? Especially given the history Microsoft has with bug ridden code and other problems. The fact is that companies know that signing a deal with Nintendo to develop means money.
Most people will go see the Trek films regardless of the even/odd factor. I think it's just an observation that seems to fit amongst most people. The odd numbered ones are disappointing. I loved ST:TMP but it did have it's flaws.
It's a good way to waste a couple of minutes that's for sure. Two minutes of listening to the music whilst flying through space is better than two minutes of watching Insurrection or ST5.
That scene sucked. In Star Trek V, he said he knew he would die alone. Checking "Generations" again . . . nope, Picard was standing right there when he died.
He meant with Bones and Spock with him he couldn't die. Picard was basically a stranger to him anyways.
Those screws really piss me off. I had a SNES console that got dropped on the floor too many times and one of the plastic levers on the top needed to be realigned with it's internal switch. I couldn't open the damn thing so I ended up practically ripping the thing apart and making it useless. Then I ended up buying a new console for like $25 used. I looked all over the net and there were only a couple of people selling tools and they were too expensive.
Do you really want to wear out your $299 game machine by playing DVD's in it when you can buy a DVD player for $100, GameCube for $200 and if one breaks down you aren't without the other? Also factor in the point that the XBOX and PS/2 require you to purchase a remote control to use the DVD anyways. Add another 20-30 dollars to that $299.

Too bad the movie itself sucks.
Actually it was 2 where Spock died to be exact.
