"Chinese scientists are claiming a great leap forward in human cloning - the creation of dozens of cloned embryos advanced enough to harvest embryonic stem cells."

Personally, I think one of the worst things a Web site can do is use a lot of stupid icons and horrible color combinations and post a lot of disinformation and dumb polls where one of the choices is Cowboy Neal. Sites like that really piss me off.
Candidates should not be allowed to spend ANY money on a campaign. It is the responsibility of citizens to support their candidate of choice, and the responsibility of the media to report on all candidates fairly.
An elected official's pay should be tied to the minimum wage of the people they represent. Federal minimum wage x 24 x 365 works out to a little over $45K a year.
Linux user-space processes have always been preemptible. The kernel itself was not. WinNT/2K is fully preemptible (kernel and user); other flavors of Windows are not.
Preemptive multi-tasking means that a process can be forced to give up its control of the CPU. This is opposed to cooperative multi-tasking, which means each process must voluntarily give up control before others can proceed. In general, preemptive multi-tasking is a good thing because it means one process cannot hog the CPU.
If there is a fully compatible environment for.NET development available as Free Software, it can only hurt Microsoft. Developers and users who are currently "locked in" to Microsoft platforms will finally have an alternative they can pitch to the boss. This is a good thing!
That's right. A warrant signed by a judge, detailing specific allegations and specific articles to be searched and/or siezed, and available on public record at the county courthouse. Show up without such a warrant and you'll be in a world of hurt.
So what happens if Microsoft allows Magic Lantern to be bundled inside the next.cab you get from windowsupdate.com - which, of course, is signed by Microsoft? You raised the point that ISPs tend to bend over, so you can't rule out the possibility that Microsoft might do the same.
In exchange for immunity from antitrust litigation... hmmm...
Israel was going to build one of these a few years back, but it worked the other way around: instead of a rising column of warm air from a giant greenhouse, they were going to spray a mist of water into the top of a giant tower, causing the air to sink to the bottom of the tower and blow through giant turbines there.
This is clearly a better design, as the greenhouse could be used to grow food in the middle of the desert (or even as a habitation -- these could be built in cooler climates as well. Imagine a self-powered resort oasis in Alaska.) It's also nice that the noise and air blast of the giant turbines is 1 KM in the sky instead of at ground level.
How many lines of code did you contribute to 8.2? That's what I thought.
They're great with teriyaki sauce, too.
"Try sample, sir?"
Mine made it. Joy of joys. I addressed exactly the things mentioned in the original posting. IMO, the government has totally lost its mandate.

Civil disobedience.

Absolutely. I don't want to be the victim of an international terrorist who doesn't understand that we share a common enemy.

Damn line breaks. Remove that space.

...a cracker with the know-how could theoretically check their own luggage.
That's nice.
