Are there any freely available Pak files that can be used as replacements to the originals?

Have you used any of the GUI front ends they link to on the download page. They make DOSBox much simpler, but are available on Windows only, from what I saw. I prefer D-Fend.

I've suggested getting a laser printer to lots of people and they buck in exactly the same way. Best approach? Two printers. Get the laser for black and white and keep around a color printer for those times when you absolutely MUST print color. You'll save money by the bucketful.

  6. Laser printers, too on Getting Around Printer-Manufacturer Abuse · · Score: 3, Informative

Interestingly, this is also true in the laser printer realm. I got sick of paying ~$35 every two months or so for an ink cartridge, so I started looking for a decent personal laser printer. I settled on the Lexmark e210 because it's fast, cheap, and uses USB. Though I don't have to replace the toner often, it's still expensive (about $70 a pop!) and I didn't feel like shouldering the expense. That's when I discovered that the Samsung ML1210 takes the EXACT SAME toner except for a minor difference. The Lexmark toner has tamper-proof screws; the Samsung doesn't. So, you make your slight modification to the printer, you buy one Samsung toner cartridge, and then dump toner in whenever you need more.

How about when Lois Lane falls from a building (accelerating at 9.2 m/s^2), and Superman zooms up (accelerating at, oh, let's say, -30 m/s^2 relative to Lois) and catches her, soaring off into the wild blue yonder. This leaves Lois instantaneously changing directions from +9.2 m/s^2 to -30 m/s^2, with a delta of -20.8 m/s^2.

Wouldn't she be better off just hitting the pavement?

Anybody remember the whole Frank Abagnale story? This guy stole millions of dollars in fraudulent checks, but is now responsible for most of the security mechanisms that keep corporate checks (which can be taken to mean your and my pay) safe. But that's the thing: if you go out to buy a current CD, the costs are going to be closer to $20. When people can get DVDs for that much, why would they pay for a CD? The consumer has started to question the quality of the work they're shelling out (big time) for.

Recently I found myself at a barnes and noble and I scoffed with my girlfriend about the stack of AOL cds at the counter. The cashier says, "Hey, I use AOL!" It's only a block down the street, flat rate of $100 per year." He says, "Yeah, I know, but then I'd have to get a new email address..."

And there it is. The email address is the drug that keeps the aol addicts on. They don't want to go to the hassle of switching because they like their email address and don't feel like telling everybody they're going to switch. That's ALL there is to it. Every user I've successfully freed from AOL agrees that they look back and wonder why they didn't quit sooner, yet people won't switch because of their EMAIL ADDRESS.
