    You forgot "lack of free flowing river to dam". The western US for all practical reasons has no capacity left. Also horribly expensive. See this abstract and note that their model *excludes* inflation, substantial debt servicing, environmental, and social costs.

    What needs to happen is the cost of security breaches must greatly exceed the cost to fix it. The only way I can see that happening is huge fines and/or civil accountability. In other words government fixing the market place.

  18. You're confusing Stalinism and Maoism with true Communism. I agree full Communism can never exist, but neither will a true Free Market, Capitalism, Libertarianism, etc. They are all idealized and rarely work in practice.

    When there are better programmers. And based on prior experience reading code, testing job candidates, reviewing my own. code etc. that will probably never happen. Most of them are barely better than scary. The smart ones are overly clever. The honest ones quit when they realize they are at best mediocre (such as myself). That does not leave many to choose from.
