I love the frontend/backend setup of Mythtv. I have a xbox-based frontend (cheap, silent, great picture quality and portable), and a dual backend setup. In my server that is always on anyway I have one capture card, and in my desktop machine I have another capturecard. If there is more than one show to record at one time, my server (master backend) can wake up my desktop machine (slave backend) using wake-on-lan and have the slave backend record shows as well.
I have been using MythTV for about three years now, it is absolutely rock solid.
There is a Novell client for Linux, with that you should be able to access your Netware volumes. Here is the client for SUSE 9.3 Pro. You will probably have to create your own ebuild file if you want to integrate it in your Gentoo system.
They're using emacs as the editor - cool. But maybe someone should show them some tricks: like M-/ for word completion. Always gets on my nerves when people use emacs and don't use features like that.
Oh, and you can also use wine to extract the.wmv from the download.
I run the Cyrus IMAP server with the Cyrus SASL security libraries, in tandem with Exim as my MTA, and Squirrelmail as a webmailclient.
This has been running for some years now, and from what I can recall, the configuration was straightforward and minimal.
The documentation is good, and there is a Cyrus Linux howto at tldp.org. I love this setup, it allows me to read my e-mail with any IMAP-enabled client from any place. Cyrus also supports SSL, if you want it to.
In the Netherlands, a similar site has been set up, supported by the government. It is the Open Source Software Lab, http://www.ossl.nl/ . It aims to lower thresholds for using open source software by finding, evaluating, reviewing and, if neccesary, translating open source software into Dutch. Also, there is a discussion forum and a wiki board for exchanging information.
The fact that the Nordic countries have also such a site is another sign there is a real need for platforms like these, and I think it's a good sign that governments are supporting and starting these initiatives.
Since it looks like the site is slashdotted, here is the list of mirrors from the README.

Information on the ISO image
Version 2.1 is now (december 11 2002) available as an iso image. It is now in spanish as well! Please note: Version 2.1 does not fit on a 650MB/74min CD-R! You need to burn it on a 700MB/80min CD-R.
Currently available mirrors
We would appreciate new mirrors, especially outside Europe. Thanks to several European Mirrors the load of our server has drastically dropped, but is still very impressive.
Have a look at the stats:
http://mapc77.epfl.ch/gnu-generation/statistics/gn uwin/
So if you have 650MB spare on a fast server we would be happy if you could mirror the ISO image.
We appreciate links to our site
Link to us if you find GNUWin II useful. Also talk about it to your friends, famlily and of course on the internet.

Instead of spending even your lunchbreak behind a screen, who don't you go out for a walk?

I smiled, and he was right. Things did get worse.
Hope they don't run this on a LAMP server...

Two applications I like a lot are:
Booby
and
APB.
APB is no longer in active development, but it still is a very usefull app. I use it on a daily basis. Both are LAMP applications.
This is great news for the Volksbeamer, a DIY beamer.
