    Its just as easy to remove IE and OE from Win2k/XP as it is to install and configure Linux. Which is to say not very, but it can be done.

    So the Newton I had with the PC serial cable and the PC syncing software ws what now? The Newton could sync with a PC just fine. Id say the failing of the Newton is due mainly to missinformation from people who never used the product.

    Sun has the most open, non-proprietary hardware on the planet. Anyone can make Sparc compatible CPUs, they publish the spec freely and only charge for certification. Sun also invented Open Firmware, which is also avilible to everyone. So in otherwords, anyone with a fab plant can download specs and build a Sparc system.

    Its the kind of crap I've come to expect from companies that dont want to compete but just want the governemnt to hand them market share. Its the kibs of all those parents who sued the schools becuase they (the kids) where getting bad grades. The've grown up and expect the same kind of treatment from the real world. The sad part is they may get it.

    So you realy think that the government should FORCE consumers to buy a non MS product? Will we see black clad shock troopers in the isles of Comp USA ready to enforce such laws? Bottom line is that at the end of the day, for whatever reason, consumers want Windows and Office. Who are you to say their choice is wrong just because its not the same as yours?

    Why shouldn't VOIP providers be required by law to follow the same rules as traditional phone serve companies? These rules (amongst other things) protect the consumer from fraud, illegal wire taps and ensures a degree of privacy.

    Given that there is no way to fit more then 8GB on an ATX MB and that requires spending 700$ for each of the eight 2GB DIMMs I'd say that the extra "bitness" is overhyped. You will not see consumer systems with more then 4GB any time soon.

    Indeed, only BSD should be installed on a kitchen apliance.

    In the real world there is no One True OS. This is why my apartment looks like a major computer lab. Seems I need to the right tool for the right job so I have to keep Sun, SGI, Linux, Windows and other systems around just in case.

    I bet these people live in houses without knowing how to build one. I bet they also drive cars without being able to rebuild and engine. In otherwords people who claim that all computer users should be forced to know everything about the OS and do things the hard way, even if it is faster, are nothing but hypocrites.

    If a dual 64bit G5 is a "desktop" then so is a single CPU 64bit Sun Ultra 1. IMHO both are workstations, but far be it from me to call BS on Apples claims so long as they apply them across the board.

    Seems that you cant actualy buy the AMD chips at any price. If you have a source for them please let us know. Not a "avilible real soon but pay us now" source but a walk in the door and buy the thing source.
