An official OTA release is up to your service provider. Google has released the OS already. If you want to bypass your provider and install it directly, you have that option. Otherwise, there is nothing more that Google can do.
I know that Flash is not popular around here, but the facts are that it is invaluable for in house web apps. Google Visualization, Flex, Salesforce API, etc are very popular in the business world. Being able to have a 6SIGMA style dashboard written once in Flash and useable on both a web site (intranet in most cases) and a mobile devices is invaluable. Sure, in time HTML5 may be a viable alternative, but we're talking about the business world which is still on IE6 in many cases.
Every time I get a project along these lines support for IE6 is a requirement, and so the only real option is Flash or AJAX (or more often then not a combination of the two).
As I'm sure you know, quantity does not equate to quality. McDonnalds does not make the best cheese burger, despite their high sales figures. They do however offer things that many people want, but this should not be a reason to not seek other things that they dont offer.
Zip attachments are more or less the norm for sending out documents, slideshows, etc. There is zero reason to not be able to utilize these attachments on a mobile device.
Last I checked, building custom (internal) applications for the iPhone is still a major PITA due to the restrictive development license and app distribution system.
It is rather interesting that a "JailBroken" iPhone stops getting updates, while a 'Rooted" android phone gets updates sooner and more often then standard.
So there is. Pity its such a crap phone. Stuck with Droid 1.5 due to some proprietary facebook/twitter client that the entire phone is centered around.
And brain dead easy cross platform business software development is TOTALY useless!
In the market targeted by Flash Builder (aka Flex) HTML5 will simply not work. We're talking about large businesses that dont want to migrate from IE6.
Yup, the market figured out that tablets are kinda dumb for most uses a long time ago. I still use one for network testing and such, but anything that requires actual data input still wants a keyboard with actual tactile feedback.
On a domain I've had since the 80's I get around 500-1000 spam messages a day. Google's (postini) spam filter catchs about 95% of them. 25-50 spam messages a day is still too many, and gods help me if I have to go in search of a message that got filtered unintentionally.
Way it used to be (not seeing anything to indicate that this has changed) resellers of Apple products where not allowed (as per the terms of their contract with Apple) to change the price. So they couldn't offer any discounts. What they could do was offer add ins such as free printers, more memory etc.
There are a number of well known AV software providers out there that have been around since the dawn of time (relatively speaking). F-Prot, Command, etc are all very good products and cost a few sandwiches a year.

There are more things in heaven and earth then are dreamed of by your philosophy.
Flash is not just for videos.
Pretty sure that it was Apple telling Adobe where to shove it and not the other way around.
If you dont want it, you dont need to use it. I do want it, and your lack of want should not effect my ability to get it.

"they don't trust you to be a good programmer"
Have you seen the stuff in the app store? They're not wrong.

I sense a great disturbance in the force, as if dozens of anti-virus executives where salivating all at once.
And it seems that you cant install apps directly using an AT&T android phone. And they replaced all the google search features with yahoo...
Was almost tempted there for a moment.

Since when? Nothing listed on their phones page, or anywhere else.
Also works with OS X running in VMware Fusion with an OS X host. Not sure how any of this is news.

Never heard of the thing before now, and why would MS need an 'iPad killer'? They've had tablet support since Windows 3.11.

You do not "leave things alone" when the only person who has access to your network equipment is a disgruntled ex-employee.

Some record company started by the Beetles. No idea why its still relevant.
Kay, we'll keep the spent fissionable material in your house. Sound good?
Or does the "normal" logic not get applied this time?
