    Actually, it was so that we where forced to buy the Pascal programming book the professor wrote. Seemed to serve no other purpose. So I dropped out, started learning on my own and am now gainfully employed as a coder. Wouldn't mide having the degree, but the CS courses (at least at the time) where junk.

    Long long ago, in a land far far away, I started down the CS degree path but stopped after the first required programming class. Guess how often I've used Pascal since then? If the students know the class is meaningless, why not cheat?

    Its quiet, not silent. Last silent system I built is carved out of a solid chunk of aluminium. No fans, no moving parts at all.

    On the plus side, with multi-tasking you'll be able to get several ads at once! Just image the fun times you'll have searching through your running apps trying to find the one that has the "congratulations! you're a winner!" sound file on constant loop.

    Parents have total power of attorney till the kid is eighteen or emancipated last I checked. He wants to sue, I would think he would have to first file to be an emancipated minor. At which point the parents are no longer responsable for his health or wellbeing.

    Course I could be totally wrong. Its happened once before.

    My laptop needs a fully functional web browser, removable media and ample storage. Oh, and a useful method of data input. The iPad has none of those things. I have no issue with people liking the thing, but I honestly cant think of anything I would use it for. My 15 year old Linux 486 tablet has more viable uses to me.

    Last I checked my MacPro was about the most expandable & open comercial computing platform I could find. While I'll grant that OSX is not as "open" as Linux or BSD, it is based on the later and I can download and tinker with the kernel and other parts if I so choose.

    Look at it this way, OSX is one of the last comercial UNIX platforms now that Sun and SGI are gone.

    I use "Flex Builder" to compile "Flash" all the time. Its the same compiler. Only difference is the libs its packaged with. If you dont use the Adobe Flash (tm) libs that are unique to Flash (tm) you can write flash apps all you want with Flex.
