  1. Why is this posted on Slashdot? on Blog Content Based Solely on High Paying Keywords · · Score: 3, Insightful

Why is this posted on Slashdot? This article doesn't fit the Slashdot slogan, "News for nerds .. _stuff that matters_" It's no wonder that this story is simply going to increase the revenue he's looking for, for providing his "somewhat valid service."

  2. Stuffed tux on Favor Ideas for a Geeky Wedding? · · Score: 1

Buy a lot of stuffed tuxes/penguins from linuxmall or thinkgeek and hand them out. Everybody would love them, and the kids would have something to play with :)

  3. Exactly on Handling Discrimination in the IT Workplace? · · Score: 0, Redundant

I know exactly how you feel..a lot of the same stuff happens to me with different jobs and people. There's really not much you can do about it..and people usually aren't willing to help you out :(

  4. RedHat.. on Making Linux Printing as Easy as in Windows · · Score: 1

I use RedHat with KDE 2.2.1 and it comes with a great printer configuration tool..takes like 30 seconds to setup a printer - seriously, and it's easier then windows ::cough::

  5. My network.. on Home Server Rooms? · · Score: 2, Informative

    Hello,

I have a small "server room" in my house, which includes 2 servers, 1 router and the cable modem.

The heat isn't really much of an issue..just get a few good fans in the servers and you're set. I have 2 fans in each of mine. The room isn't that hot at all.

All the wiring then goes out the ceiling, through the attic and then I dropped down 3 jacks to each room to plug up to the network.

  6. PHP and MySQL on IP Allocation and Management? · · Score: 1

Use PHP and MySQL :) Pretty easy and efficient in my opinion.

  7. Vents.. on Wiring A New House? · · Score: 1

My whole house is actually wired through the vents. We have 6 computers on the top floor and I run all the cables down through one vent which drops out into the basement which then connects to a router. Works very well - and the vent does not have any super-cold/hot air running through it.
