    From the article: Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) places the blame on these European companies for the alligator clips being applied to dissidents, which is a bad thing. But if, instead of dissidents, the alligator clips were being applied to terrorists in, say, Iraq or Afghanistan, well then that would be a good thing I guess, and Sen. Kirk would be giving the credit instead of placing the blame.

    No, they aren't. In fact, the final hardware for the 4S was the first engineering prototype, and the iOS5 golden master was the first version that even compiled.
    Apple can get away with this because they know that they'll sell as many iPhones as they can make, no matter how crappy they are.

    Furthermore, the kilogram happens to be the mass of a lump of metal in France. If the lump of metal would have been different, a kilogram would have been a different mass. In fact, the kilogram is a different mass than it used to be. Oops.

    Minutes, hours and days are not imperial units, but are based upon SI units.

    Inches, feet and miles are also based upon SI units.

    There's nothing wrong with doing science using American units of measurement, as long as you don't expect to have to interact with crazy ferriners. Sure it's harder to do calculations in your head, but why do we need to be doing calculations in our heads anyway? Isn't that what phones are for?
