"since they dont burn"...
yes, but steel does melt, quite easily... in fact, steel in a fire fails more easily than a properly done wood framed home, because the outside of wood burns until the exterior fuel is spent, but there might still be enough unburned wood on the inside to hold the building up, unlike steel...
most importantly-
cencorship never protects as well as careful teaching...im not going to tell you how to parent, but...
but the fact that you dont trust them is incredibly disturbing. even more disturbing is that you have to ask other people their rules... you are esentially asking how others control their kids, which to me indicates that you cant do it on your own (ie they are out of control)
please take the time to discuss computer use with your kids, calmly, rationally, and just take some time to talk to them. dont just tell them what you dont want them to do, but also why and discuss their thoughts about it. if they dont want to talk, thats fine, dont make them, forcing makes things worse. finally, give them alternatives if you are that paranoid about what they do on the internet.
i have been using the internet uncensored for 10 years now, since i was 10 years old... and i turned out fine, because my parents educated and discussed with me instead of censored me
this sounds like a great idea for all schools. i wish my school were this cool. we can't even play streaming video games, not even tetris, on our school computers. no music on them either, no anything other than typing or using the internet with a teacher there watching. network nazis suck:(
this is hilarious. great use for an i-pod;) it was only a metter of time. funny, but sad that anyone can do it, of course anyone can steal anything, so why should this be special? the same thing can be done going into a store and bringing a blank cd with you
its a good thing there has been no real reason to upgrade media player since 6.4 other than skins and visualisations. but then, who uses media player to play their mp3s anyways...?
at my high school they do this and nobody cares. its running stuff like that all the time. and we cant even play games on the computer lab computers, not even shockwave ones
Despite what they say, its not just filesharing thats bogging down the networks. for two weeks after school began this year for me i was without a school internet connection because everyone uses the internet all of the time now. Instant messanger, email, voice and videoconferencing, websites (flash etc) an other things have taken over the bandwidth. There is just too much you can do on the inbternet now.
apparently you havent used XP on a computer other then your own. XP is not nearly as good or stable as 2000 is. of course linux is better for stability.
i dont know about you, but when the guy was saying that people want to hear news and what life was like when the song was coming out, i was just about ready to throw up. all that i want is music and the name of the song and group in case i dont already know. and the music keeps on playing on and on... no talk, no commercials.
maybe because HDDs are not reliable as removable media. when stored on the shelf for many years they might go bad... cds you can stick in a case and leave them on the shelf for a very long time and nothing will happen.

can we say been there done that? this system type has been in use ever since the AH-64 apache helicopter was made... many, many years ago
drools over thoughts of how cool this could be...
