And how do you know he wasn't trying to get free with his arms. The reason he can't breathe is because he didn't want to get handcuffed in the first place. I don't have any sympathy for these individuals. If an office wants to handcuff you, you oblige him and then settle things in court. You do not fight with the officers.
60mm is way too tight for most people (unless you just want to do portraits). I got the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 which is dirt cheap at less than $80 and it gets pretty good pictures.
Cohen is way overrated as a comic, if you could even call him that. I feel bad for the Kazakhs who now have to deal with this crap from Westerners who know nothing about them.
Haven't the South Koreans heard of self-policing online communities? Why don't these communities take care of their own problems? And if the community won't take care of the problem, then why be part of that community? Go somewhere else, it's a big (world wide) world out there.
Lou Dobbs on CNN was talking about the Sequoia voting machines operated by the Venezuelan company, and I think we should bring to his attention the Diebold ones too. Please take a moment and send a polite comment at their feedback form
Try other big media outlets. We need the general public to become aware of this potential debacle before it's too late.
I've noticed that more and more preferences get taken out of the dialog with every release and they can be changed only through about:config. I can understand that you wouldn't want to crowd the dialog and confuse the users too much, but do you ever go back and review all those options and put back in the dialog some of the most used ones?
Here are some of the settings that I've gathered so far to get Firefox 2.0 to my liking:
In about:config
* browser.tabs.closeButtons to 3 for one close tab button
* browser.tabs.selectOwnerOnClose to false for successive reading and closing
* browser.tabs.tabminwidth to 20 for displaying tab scrolling in extreme cases only
* browser.urlbar.hideGoButton no use for the Go button
* dom.disable_window to true, fix various window annoyances
* network.prefetch-next to false for not wasting my bandwidth
In userChrome.css for disabling the List all tabs which annoys me when using the close button: /* Disable Container box for "List all Tabs" Button */ .tabs-alltabs-stack {
display: none !important;
}
If you knew anything about Wikipedia's functions you would know that admins are not supposed to decide editorial content. That's what editors are for. And as far as Jimbo is concerned, he's the last to throw his weight around the place. You'd know this too if you were part of the community.
I'm glad linux is getting more realtime capabilities, but what I wonder when will video playback not suck under Linux. Why does video playback get paused when you drag any window? Or how come you can't play two videos at the same time? Maybe these are X.org issues, I don't know, but they're annoying.
Can't they get checksums for each sentence of each essay and store those? Sure it won't be as accurate, but I think it will be good enough for people that copy complete essays.
Many members of wikipedia are very much amused. This fork was needed just so we could shut up the critics when this project fails. It's not that I wish it to fail, it's just that there is no other way. It's been tried from the start with Nupedia, and without the openess it won't work. Not to mention that Wikipedia has a lot of momentum now and it's not going to be easy to turn that into another project.
Not to mention that you get fewer people in the lectures and give the people who want to be there more attention. I frankly don't see a bad side out of posting these online. Universities should be encouraging this. What do they care if students come to class or not? They're adults and they can choose what to do on their own.
Professors would probably be for this too if it didn't mean they'd given away the chance to make some money on it. I've known professors who made you buy their books or notes, and they sure wouldn't like this.
Images are too small
Pair off quick typists together
Match on single words too
There will be matches on single words that don't really describe images well
There will be matches on common typos
You start to enter generic words that you think other will put in (prisoner's dilemma?)
You start with the obvious first so you don't describe images well, even if you know better descriptions (maybe too long, maybe you can't spell it, you don't think others will get it)
It's addictive!!!
Not only was the computer too smart, it was smarter than any single human or betazoid could be. Imagine instead of a computer you had an assistant. No one would believe that that assistant could pick up every single time whether he was being addressed or they were talking to each other. Once in a while he'd have to say, "were you talking to me?" but the computer somehow manages every time. It's not possible through AI, you need direct access to the thought patterns of the humans. That's the only way it could be that good, and if they'd just said that I'd be Ok with it because I don't see outside the realm of possibility where you could detect some brainwave signature that matches commanding the computer.
Our instict for survival is too strong to do otherwise.
That's true for individuals or small groups, but not for large groups. Are problem is that we've gotten advanced enough technologically where the problems of a small to medium group can affect possible the entire Earth. If it's not nuclear holocaust, it's global warming. If it's not global warming, it's the destruction of the ecosystem, etc. Maybe the survival instinct is strong enough for all humanity, but will such a large group develop a tight enough feedback mechanism for longterm survival?
"Representative Fred Upton, head of the House telecommunications subcommittee, said competition could mean people save $30 to $40 each month on their net access fees."
Really, well, I'm already paying less than $30/mo, are the ISPs going to pay me for using their services? No more likely they'll charge the content providers and leave me with the slow speeds that I already have. After all, the slower the speed of the user, the more they can charge the content providers.
I can't wait for Google and its dark fiber, we've got to shit out this waste of ISPs.
Google is doing these just to annoy Microsoft and to keep them guessing. They're not really spending much money as it's probably just coming out of their employees' 20% time. If they get some more eyeballs, all the better. They can throw as many of these products to the wall as their employees can come up with. It doesn't hurt Google, it may in fact help them, and it annoys their competitors. It's a win-win for Google, and they're going to keep doing it. People don't even know how many products Google has. I keep forgetting them myself, until I run across one that I actually want to use.

I was actually searching for something like this. I haven't tried it yet, but thanks!

Feel free to add your own to the thread.

A whole new world...of Warcraft

I hope they get some FPMITA time. They really need to send a message to these suits who think they can do whatever they please to people.

I'm not clear, those who do not wish to reveal their name, can they or can't they edit?

You should have posted that at eellooff, you could have made $5.
They'll get some girls to pose for the wallpapers right :)

The dark color green on the comments is too distracting. Oh look a header...
