My son is using Scratch (https://scratch.mit.edu/) in an after school class. He is having fun and learning some great concepts (variables, conditional logic, control flow, etc.).
I recently got a windows 8 surface and it can definitely be used as a laptop replacement. The keyboard is not great but it beats a software keyboard by a mile (or kilometer).
I am dead set against nuclear power until they can solve the nuclear waste problem. I know, breeder reactors, blah blah blah, they don't exist in this country and I have not heard of a plan to build one. Let's see, the choice is between CO2 that will go away in my lifetime (either naturally or with some help), and radioactive waste that will last several thousands of years...
It likely has more to do with affluence than anything else. If you can afford a Mac you can likely afford numerous computers. Less affluent computer owners will only buy one computer and a cheaper one at that.
I like the looks, the center "iCar" console screen, and it's unlikely I'll ever drive anywhere further than 300 miles. For any significant distance, I'm on a plane.
The price doesn't seem that bad, but I bet it's closer to $60K by launch. Even then, I will probably take a look at one.
I personally don't like the big video screen being used for controls. In my "analog" car I can change the radio station, adjust the temperature, and turn on the AC with convenient knobs and buttons that I know where to find without even looking and I get good tactile response. My in-law's Lexus has a smaller screen to do this and it was always in the wrong mode and difficult for the driver to quickly change the temperature or radio due to having to change modes.
That said, the screen would be nice for watching videos, but please, not to control the car's functions.
I couldn't agree more. What we really need is someone/country/whatever to take English by the horns and fix our crappy spelling and grammer. How many years have we collectively lost in school trying to learn all the crazy spelling and grammar rules? What a waste.
What are you talking about? You can buy the parts of office separately. I just looked at CDW.com and was able to find separate listings for Excel and Word (I didn't look for any others). Am I missing something?
This shows a major flaw in the cleanup worm. It should just sit idle until an infected machine tries to contact (infect) it, then spread itself to that machine and clean it up. This would reduce the traffic caused by the cleanup worm to a minimum.

This would be GREAT news for Microsoft. No more whining that they are a monopoly that leaves consumers nowhere else to turn.
If you live in Maryland you can walk to in in-state winery, so banning all shipments is no big loss to the locals.
