Gotta be something wrong with your machine then.. since it runs just fine on my Sempron 3500 laptop with a GeForce Go 6150, 1.5 gigs of ram, ff 3.0.13, ubuntu jaunty.
Why wouldn't they have the authority? They've been tasked by the government to investigate cellphone practices. That includes contracts between hardware manufacturers and cellphone companies.
Same here, I have a mac at work, but I run linux at home. So today, to get the iphone SMS patch, I had to sync at work. I'm lucky I heard about the patch before I left work, otherwise I would've had to go all weekend with a vulnerable iphone.
Hi, this is fred. I can't take your call now. Leave me a message.
Since we're talking about shaving seconds... "I can't take your call now" is redundant.
"Leave Fred a message" is what I have for mine. I don't pretend to explain why I didn't answer the phone, I don't talk about a beep or anything, and I don't introduce myself because they're not actually talking to me.:)
Really? That's your response? Missing Sync? I used Missing Sync for my old WinMo 5 phone. It barely worked, it crashed a lot, and it was $40.
I prefer what Palm is doing. iTunes interoperability is just an extra bonus. You can still add music and photos and whatever just by dragging them to the device.
If I want to avoid Windows it's much more difficult - some important software only runs on Windows, large numbers of devices only function at all or fully on Windows, I can only get full connectivity to an Exchange server with MS software, etc. etc.
Yeah, and some important software only runs on OSX (Apple actively kills off Windows versions of software it purchases, like Logic and Shake). And I can only install iphone apps from the itunes music store, which can only be accessed by Apple's software. All those car audio kits are designed around the ipod, etc. etc.
You're only locked into Windows because you bought Windows software. I'm not locked into Windows at all. I run linux at work and at home (at work I also run OSX).
> Rhythm games have zero tactical depth, so they shouldn't really be called games.
Actually, when to use star power involves tactics.
I thought the whole point of having a sim-based phone is that when you are going to be in france for two weeks, you can just buy a pre-paid sim card.
The fact that you list Google Reader as a "social networking site" tells me you are unclear on either google reader, or social networking.
Google Reader may have some social networking ability, but it's still primarily an rss aggregator.
Ditto. As a kid I had an Apple II book that covered making a defender clone in 6502 assembly. I was hooked from that point on.

You do that every time you pick up the phone. Or send a letter. Or do anything other than talk to someone face to face.
Well there's the problem.. :)
Seriously. You can pick up a Korg EA1 for less than $150 and get better sound than you could ever hope with your "vintage synth filters".
What about a device with a 9" screen and no battery? (I'm looking at you, 128K Macintosh from 1984)
Actually, why would a mac user need bluetooth? It's not like he could use it with his iphone...
Ah but the keyboard needs to understand how keycodes change for Shift/Ctrl/AltGR/etc.

Those answers would be surprising.. since Apple has been trying to blame AT&T for rejecting apps like GV and Sling.
People were forced to move away from Shake. Apple killed the Windows version, and the prices for the Linux version are ludicrously out of touch.
Shake is dying because Apple seems to have given up trying to compete with Affer Effects and Combustion.

Call my google voice number and you'll get google's voicemail, not AT&Ts.
That one person's white one turned pink because it got really hot and leeched color from her case.
You've confused unlocking with jailbreaking. Jailbreaking is solely to put your own apps on the phone (without going through the iTunes store).
Forcing developers to pay for $600 for CodeWarrior was one reason I never developed for System 7.
Back in early 2007, when Apple inked the deal, Verizon had 56.8 million subscribers, AT&T had 56.3.
Today, Verizon has 87.7 million subscribers, and AT&T has 79.6.
Software would be pretty much impossible to write otherwise. All software interacts with the OS, without the OS manufacturer's permission.
Hell, OSX comes with samba so that it can interact with windows servers without microsoft's permission.

iTunes came out a year before the iPod did. So you can't say that iTunes only exists to sell iPods.
By that definition, then iPods themselves are a kludge.. since Apple pushes out iPod updates to enable them to work with iTunes updates.
