(Forgive me if this is reduntant, there are too many replies for me to read right now.)
Actually, iTMS downloads a "m4p" files, some sort of MPEG-4 standard for audio. Still lossy of course, but allegedly better than MP3.
Apple had an interesting demo at the World Wide Developers Conference this past week. They showed HD-quality video compressed with H.263 using the same bitrate as DVD. Very nice picture at a much-improved resolution. Not all 128Kbps are created equal.;)
You can't say it's "on MTV" if it airs on Comedy Central, that's just boneheaded. Besides, as far as I can tell the two stations are siblings, not parent/child.
I called up Adelphia about some kind of cable modem problem. At one point the rep told me my cable jack in the room may have been left disconnected, since all the singals pouring out of an open jack can interefere with airplanes.
My signature on all outgoing mails is my name, e-mail address, some info from uname, and a link to Jeff Goldberg's "MS-Word is Not a document exchange format." I don't know how many people actually read it, but at least it's something.
Go USA... $400 billion on military spending, which is more than our allies ($225 bil.), Russia ($65 bil.), China ($47 bil.), North Korean and Iran ($7 bil.) combined.
Auditing the offenders wouldn't be so bad. There are only, what, 16 million people in the whole state? Probably half of those purchase online. 8 million audits wouldn't put too much of a strain on the system.
I use a Sun-branded GDM-17E20 at home. It's one of the sharpest displays I've ever used. I moved from an old Acer to this new display and I was amazed at the clarity. I'll pick up another as soon as I get the chance. Hooray for non-standard plugs, they sure do drive prices down after a few years.
Thanks for the clarification. I haven't kept up with things so much since selling my Mac.
Which Hellrazor was it with the DJ that shot CDs out of his face? You could pick up some design ideas from that guy. ;)

Register for a Slashdot account, exclude "Apple" stories from the homepage. Satisfied?
Wow, troll.
Yeah, I can confirm this. Very annoying, especially with the silent deletes. At least bounce it, MSFT.
Point being: just because it's technically correct doesn't mean people will understand you if that's how you speak.

Yeah, Tough Crowd is embarrasing. I cringe every time Colin Quinn tries to make a joke.

Right.
Keep in mind that the woman in the picture is six inches tall.

I did not know such a thing existed. Anyone have any better shots of the "GE Show Power?"
As if there's anything honorable about what the US military these days.
Yeah, maybe we would have less 11 mpg H2s on the road.
$1 a gallon? I want to know where you're buying. ("Regular" was $1.77/gal here in Rochester, NY last time I checked.)
I see the military as a stellar way to stop breathing before age 30. I really can't imagine why anyone would join up out of their own free will.

What about this comment of yours, which is a verbatim copy of part of this post to the debian-legal list? You got +5 for that one, congrats.
Not lost forever, but lost until we travel to Mars and retool it as an extraterrestrial barbeque grill.

Barenaked Ladies - One Week. I listened to that song so many times...
The first MP3 I had, I encoded from MTV using SoundJam MP and an RCA->1/8" jack converter on my Revision A iMac. Can't remember what it was though.

I launched SkyNet, right before my daughter and future husband rushed in to warn me. Boy was my face red!
