And moved onto Sawfish. Enlightenment is another BAD example of OSS, providing nothing new, and taking eons of development time.
What is SO special about Enlightenment compared to other software? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Oh look, a little 'reflection effect' at the bottom of the screen. Alpha Transparency here and there.
Eye Candy for drooling simpletons.
And what do YOU know about High Standards? Your mother certainly didn't have any!
Fuck Standards. Do you REALLY want to have retarded zealots reading your site? They'd only get confused by all the words and stuff.
Hell, that's what cuntface did with his "Anti-Outlook" mailing list.
And I appreciate a good thing and support it, which is why I paid for my copy of WinXP. Don't like it? Then tell everyone how much YOU'VE contributed to your precious Mozilla.
And I'm not talking empty rhetoric, I'm talking cold, hard currency.
I bet you haven't given them a PENNY, have you?
I'd GLADLY shit on "peoples' hard work", but strangely enough, it's shit already so I doubt they'd notice.
That this man's face resembled our good pal goatse.
Which is, let's face it, pretty damn disturbing. Any humane society would have had him put to sleep rather than let this faceless freak roam free. Instead, valuable medical resources have been wasted on this "Artificial Face" which in all probability would fall off in a strong wind.
99% of Open Source "programmers" are too incompetent to be let near one of their beloved Clock Applets. Yet still they come up with xshittyclock v0.0.1 and expect some other fool to carry the banner. Look at the number of dead projects on Sourceforge. How can you expect an OSS coder to have the foresight and discipline to be able to write secure, reliable code? Look at the number of buffer overflow exploits there have been in EVERY a.out.
At least Microsoft employ SOME level of competence testing, followed by reliable employee benefits. Like wages.
As an insider, I can tell you Microsoft have made a HUGE turn-around in their corporate culture. Although it was their Marketing Department which gave the company such a huge market share, Bill Gates has had the wisdom to realise it is time to USE that share for the greater good. That means SECURE COMPUTING, and a rebuilding of trust. And who is it that can provide secure software? The programmers. Microsoft's Bread and Butter. You'll be hearing a lot less from the Marketing Team, and more direct 'Press Releases' from project teams.
In a way, the unconsitutional threat of breakup has galvanised Microsoft culture, to give a lot more autonomy to programming teams.
There has not been a better time to be working for Microsoft now. Whereas Open Source can only provide empty rhetoric, Microsoft are putting the control of the company back into the hands of the programmers.
From my experience, Motif is ANCIENT technology. A Motif-based desktop is essentially the same as a Windows Desktop fixed at 16-color 640x480 resolution, with fonts and buttons pushed up to the highest size possible. Oh yeah, and no proportional sized fonts.
Admittedly, the work of Sawfish, Windowmaker, et al, has seen a dramatic improvement in the look and stability of the Linux desktop. But look at the flamewars between the two major desktop environments...
KDE: Look, we've brought Linux kicking and screaming into the 1990s!
Gnome: We don't like it because you were first. Here's OUR version. And it's under a free license.
KDE: Well, the license doesn't matter as we'd sooner have a working, stable product at the end of the day.
Gnome: Look, we've got a kewl reflection effect going on at the bottom of the screen.
KDE: That's nice. We've been working on a usable 'component' based environment for future application development.
Gnome: But you're still not FREE. BEG FOR FORGIVENESS.
KDE: Qt have just changed their licensing policy. Looks like we ARE free now.
Gnome: LA LA LA! I'm not listening! LA LA LA!
KDE: And now all our parts support Anti-Aliasing natively.
Gnome: LA LA LA! Oh no, we can't get OUR Component scheme to work.
KDE: Borrow ours if you want. We can work together to make things compatible.
Gnome: NO. You're not really free.
KDE: Very well then, we'll just make the most of our superior desktop share.
Gnome: Not Free! Not Free! Oh, Hello Mister Gates..NET really IS a good idea, isn't it?
KDE: Not that it really bothers us, but haven't you changed your license to a non-"free" derivative now?
Gnome: NOT LISTENING! WE'RE THE BEST!!! We have support from Microsoft now. Free software sux0rs!
*whinge whinge* Nimda *whinge whinge* Code Red *whinge whinge* Outlook attachment viruses (Which have nothing to do with Win2000 Servers, but I'll throw them in anyway because everything coming out of MickyShaft is the same) *whinge whinge*
Err, anyway.
Fact 1: Microsoft has acknowledged the security risks in its products has caused severe problems in the past. AND IS DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT! All development is now FOCUSED towards security.
Fact 2: As there is no centralised development path in Open Source software, there is no focus.
Fact 3: Microsft will win. By virtue of having more money to throw at the problem.
The Unicode specification is going to last FAR longer than people's memories of the holocaust. It seems deliberately narrow-minded of them to refuse to encode such a long-lasting glyph.
I guess that's what you get when you pander to Political Correctness.
What's the Unicode entity number for a Swastika? It seems strange that every other symbol (including Klingon) is encoded in Unicode, apart from that one. After all, if it's good enough for Pokemon cards, it's good enough to be included in Slashdot Postings.
$cat newmoz.sh

It's because they change the Theme API with each release. And then cry and throw a tantrum when no-one wants to play with them any more.
What is it now? Getting on for Four Years or something? And still no v1 release?
Don't waste your time. For Windows, Internet Explorer is the finest browser you can use. And for other platforms, Opera is by far the best.
Unless you REALLY like glacially slow render speeds and kernel panics every time you use the scrollwheel, that is.
And I'll just re-iterate for the benefit of the slower zealots. FOUR YEARS. Linux was out of the door in four months. Remember that.
Supernova? SuperANUS more like.
Yet more pathetic Fist Sporting.
Is there anything you think Motif does better than Xaw?

Science is an art.
I have a fungus infection in my ANAL cavity. Can I be on the front page?

Information wants to be stolen, right? Fist Sport! (Pending the 2 min time-out, naturally!)
Looks like the WinInfo site has gone down since the story was submitted, so you may have to content yourself in the meantime with the Bugtraq numbers.
As a horde of DDoS-ing Linux Zealots desperately try to hide the truth.
(you listening, Larry "Unbreakable" Ellison?)
I'd like to read that relevant Slashdot article, but for some reason the comments take far too long to load!

Anyone wanna poke my mom? Only $5!
That'll teach me to learn how to pimp by reading "The Cathedral and the Bizarre". Grr.
It's hard work pimping your own parents, but at least I can afford my subscription to Red Carpet now.
No I don't...
What's it like?
It's a rite of passage.

Sounds like an interesting challenge.
For a virgin. After you've had your cherry popped, you'll find that the pursuit of ladies becomes a FAR more interesting challenge...
I'd sooner have a Pearl Monocle
Are you the same Stone Rhino I jacked off for on Netmeeting?
One cock in the mouth, one cock in the ass.
Pre-teen spitroast. Now that's where I'D want to spend my entertainment dollar!
