It seems (from my admittedly limited reading on the subject) that Japan's aggressive adventures were a fairly recent* development. The country apparently enjoyed a peaceful, matriarchal society for quite a while. I'm sure there were people in the country quite happy to see the military get spanked, and I'm sure there are plenty of Japanese today who realize the benefits of a non-aggressive society.

Bell can't be accused of doing everything wrong. Far from it. The reliability and durability of their hardware was never an issue. You could beat a man to death with a Bell handset. Their main problem, from a general customer's point of view, was that if you needed customer service you could go fuck yourself as far as they were concerned.

Hmm... on the one hand you dismiss "some association or group of labcoats" and on the other hand you ask me to cite two sources and a study to back myself up. Who exactly would you accept as an authority? I'm sure you realize that any valid and peer-reviewed study would be done by a 'labcoat' who probably belongs to an 'organization' or two.

I think the truth is that you will never accept as an authority any person or body that professes a view opposite to one you hold, regardless of experience or education.
