  1. Negligence on Lawsuit Against Microsoft Over Insecure Software · · Score: 2, Insightful

No matter what the EULA, or any warranty, expressed or implied states, the only proof needed to hold sofware makers responsible for their creations is to prove that the software was vulnerable due to negligence on the manufacturers part. There are many states and possibly even US law that dictates that you cannot disclaim responsibility due to negligence...

To buying products made in the USA?? I can remember just a few short years ago when that made in the usa tag meant you got a better value for your dollar. The product might have still been made in a sweatshop, but it was a sweatshop in the USA!!.

I think that the way to convince middle and upper management to stop going overseas for tech workers is to convince them that although it might cost more to employ workers in the US, you get more value for your dollar if you stay at home, you get better code, better communication, and better management of the project.

Its time to stop whining about the jobs leaving, and find reasons to keep them here... and show IT managers why they should do things the RIGHT way, teach them about value, not just about bottom dollar.

But thats just my 2 cents...

Giving an advanced computer a IQ test is sinply a matter of recalling the appropriate information from memory to answer. The true form of AI isnt about intelligence, its about reason. But how do you teach a computer to respond with an answer to a question that the computer has never encountered before... When we build a machine that can answer a question based on incomplete imput we will have made the first step in creating a machine that can "think"

The general population could not tell you the difference between a ISP and a content provider. The ISP provides you access to the internet through whatever medium, thats it, just the gateway to the rest of the world. A content provider (such as AOL -- "the devil") provides you access to their content on their internet. While its possible to surf around AOL's content, its a pain in the ass. However for the Lusers at home who are 90% computer illiterate, it works. The trick is in keeping unfettered internet access around for those of us that USE it. you may take my life, but you will NEVER take my cable modem!!
