No matter what the EULA, or any warranty, expressed or implied states, the only proof needed to hold sofware makers responsible for their creations is to prove that the software was vulnerable due to negligence on the manufacturers part. There are many states and possibly even US law that dictates that you cannot disclaim responsibility due to negligence...
Apple has information on how Bruce Hornsby has done live shows using Powerbooks, and PARIS pro workstation... Its goes into more detail about why and how they are doing this type of recording and mixing...
Even though the terms of the settlement agreement do not allow digital sigatures, the site could still take the information and allow a digital signature for the power of attourney needed to submit the claim on that parties behalf. Since myfreepc.com was filing on behalf of the individual, myfreepc.com could sign the legit signature for them.
To buying products made in the USA?? I can remember just a few short years ago when that made in the usa tag meant you got a better value for your dollar. The product might have still been made in a sweatshop, but it was a sweatshop in the USA!!.
I think that the way to convince middle and upper management to stop going overseas for tech workers is to convince them that although it might cost more to employ workers in the US, you get more value for your dollar if you stay at home, you get better code, better communication, and better management of the project.
Its time to stop whining about the jobs leaving, and find reasons to keep them here... and show IT managers why they should do things the RIGHT way, teach them about value, not just about bottom dollar.
All this time... I thought it was just a really good movie...
Soemtimes I think people just get stuck in the "willing suspension of disbelief" and forget that its just a movie... im not looking for a religious revolution, I just want to see Neo kick some machine ass...
But I will be watching on opening day... I already have tickets...

Humans measure intelligence by gauging replys to questions that have quantified answers. Giving an advanced computer a IQ test is sinply a matter of recalling the appropriate information from memory to answer. The true form of AI isnt about intelligence, its about reason. But how do you teach a computer to respond with an answer to a question that the computer has never encountered before... When we build a machine that can answer a question based on incomplete imput we will have made the first step in creating a machine that can "think"
1. Claim lost revenue from spam on your network
2. become peoples champion to stop spam

6. PROFIT!!
They happen to provide shitty content as a side "benefit."
A side benefit that makes AOL more money than all their dial-up revenue...dial up internet has always been a bad business model. AOL, and Earthlink make more money with content, and portals, than they do from their customers...
The general population could not tell you the difference between a ISP and a content provider. The ISP provides you access to the internet through whatever medium, thats it, just the gateway to the rest of the world. A content provider (such as AOL -- "the devil") provides you access to their content on their internet. While its possible to surf around AOL's content, its a pain in the ass. However for the Lusers at home who are 90% computer illiterate, it works. The trick is in keeping unfettered internet access around for those of us that USE it. you may take my life, but you will NEVER take my cable modem!!
In my own personal experience, being a computer professional is like being a car mechanic... Your family and friends, and even people you dont know expect you to fix their computer problems all the time. Not a week goes by that I dont have 10 people at work telling me about their computer problems, another 5 at home (neighbors, ect) and family is the worst...
At a certain point I became like the computer guy on SNL... Its parody, but true, most of the time the problem can only be fixed by saying "MOVE"...

I would assume your speaking about the USA...
I should remind you that in the USA, its not against the law to smoke pot, its against the law to get caught smoking pot.
What you do on your own time behind the closed doors of your own home is your own business, and dont get caught.
