Same thing happened to me, I was 19 and the only web backend programmer. I actually replaced the older, higher paid, "director of technology." I was put on probation because I had a "proven track record of being 3-5 mintues late" and was told otherwise i was doing a great job.
Besides that, there was a big history of other people taking credit for my work and excluding me from meetings. Another older programmer with a paper degree, who had no database experience, would actually plan and estimate projects and then hand them to me.
