I believe if God didn't intend for this to happen, he would have made it impossible to do what we have thus far.

Be careful what you are saying here - your wording implies something I don't think you meant. Just because something can happen or that we can do something, doesn't neccessarily mean that we should do it. For example, I can hunt you down and kill you. But I could not justify doing so by saying that God made this possible. On the other hand I do believe that God delights in our discovering the world much like parents delight in watching their children in the playpen.

But thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.

My best friend also has a 3c905B. He was able to get it working with 2.0.35 by getting a test version of the driver. I think the address is http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/l inux/drivers/vortex.html The driver in Linux 2.2 worked for him just fine, though.

And, funny you should mention 3com. I installed 3.1 FreeBSD and RedHat 5.2 within 1 week of each other. Lo and behold, the 3c905 was supported under FreeBSD and NOT under Linux. (Hrmmm....so much for the better hardware support argument)

    Lets see, RedHat 5.2 shipped with kernel 2.0.36. Downloading 2.0.36 . . . done. `tar zxvf linux-2.0.36.tar.gz ; cd linux ; make config`

WHOA! Hot dawg! 3com 3c905 support!

I know that there is a mailing list for Linux kernel development on Sparcs. That would probably be a place to ask.

See http://www.linux.org/help/lists.html and look for "sparclinux" and "ultralinux" lists.

The top of the page has instructions on how to subscribe.

Heh, that's funny. Transmeta's (only two 't's) page still says, "This web page is not here yet."

Another interesting tidbit is that Transmetta's (three 't's) html source contains the line: <META NAME="GENERATOR" Content="Visual Page 2.0 for Windows - Trial Version">

But unfortunately there were no funny comments in the html. Thats the best thing about Transmeta's page.

Well, according to mozilla.org you need MSVC 5.0 or newer and Windows NT 3.51 or newer to build Mozilla for Win32s. So if you were able to somehow get it to build on a Watcom compiler I'm fairly sure that there wouldn't be a problem in that regard.
