Uh...you didnt read the article did you?
the 900K pages are provided from googles cache of about 100.edu sites, this is just for the programmers to play with a fairly large set of data before scaling it to 2 billion.
Why fix bugs in an old version that you are planning on discontinuing support for soon? There is no profit in it. Better to use the resourses on a new version that you can sell for big $$. Simple business case. Besides if the bugs annoy you enough you will go buy the new version where those bugs supposedly dont exist.
I dunno about your town. But where I live, a city councillor has pretty much zero impact on the IT departments of the city. If you want to try to raise the issue of free software great, but how realistic is it to assume that they will switch? Hell, if all the ideas that politicians voiced were actually implemented the world would be a pretty fsked up place...
Readily available mail-order (do a search) and probably at your local china-town as well. The ones in china town where I live are from several different manufacturers and offer karaoke support as well. Sure most of these are 'moded' players, but some are available with upgradeable BIOSes that you just slap in a CD-ROM and it writes the new instructions into the DVD players BIOS.
People are just too lazy to look for items like this if they aren't on the shelf at their local best-buy, radio shack or wal mart, but the products are readily available.
I'll just go and submit the name:
eeeeee-eEeeEeeEee eeeeeEEeeeee
Easy to spell(well maybe not, but no one will notice if it's spelled wrong), but definately easy to remember!
How exactly is this "Stuff that Matters"?
I dunno if I would classify goatse as pr0n. Its just sick, disgusting shit.

Also 900,000 +100K != 1 billion just FYI...
Now we can get Pr0n free instead of buying a dirty magaize at the airport.

What do they do, monitor KFC and try to look for Col. Sanders coming and going with the secret recipe?
Everyone knows that Cthulu lives deep in the ocean and has already secretly taken over the world.
