    If I purchase a book, the book becomes my property. Yet by law, I am not allowed to make a copy of said book until the copyright expires on it. In fact, copyright restricts private property rights by restricting what you can do with your own property.

    I have noticed the the concept of standardization is almost alien to most industries. The computer industry gets along much better then the auto industry.

    Wow, should Slashdot should castrate anyone who is against the notion of copyright law? Either make file sharing legal (the democratic method) or put the 50+ million people who do it in jail (the fascist method). I think we are headed toward the fascist method.

    SO the supposed £270 million lost suddenly disappeared from the British economy? If you are going to make a case for more copyright protection, at least be honest about it. Stop trying to look like you are working for "the people" cause we all know "the people" want free movies.

    What if the teacher is tenured? Tenured teachers can theoretically teach about whatever the heck they want, in any way they want.

    You are assuming a world without morality or religion would be better off. Instead of different religions we'd have the different athiest groups fighting each other. Only difference is athiests don't have a moral code to follow or are accountable for their actions.

    No, no it really is. I'm a English major who never took a single math class in above high school geometry (which was more like "nap time") and I still function pretty well without it.

    Why might that be? Math is critical to functioning in today's world -- from figuring out whether you have enough cash in your bank account to both pay the rent AND buy that new shiny iPod to determining how to modify your recipe to accommodate the unexpected arrival of 5 more dinner guests to averaging the scores of your english students to... you name it.


    So what you are saying is anything above 3rd grade math is pointless? :)

    You going off on how much you love Jews, and on the otherhand, say they get away with too much, anti-Semitism is a joke, etc. I usually see this argument among those with an agenda. "I love Jews, but I think they should jump of a ledge!"

    Wrong! I grew up in a country with a firmly rooted Jewish community. Early on, I learned to judge people based on what they do, not who they are. This wasn't the case for many of the bullies which agressed Jews for religious reasons. I was beaten up many times because I tried to defend the Jews.
    You are full of contradictions.
