Lunacy of the paranoid? Microsoft is a business, not a charity, or a good Samaritan. They're objective to maximize profits and eliminate competition. If you believe anything else, you are a fool.
Zimbra is a pretty good alternative to Exchange, we have actually migrated *off* Exchange to Zimbra. With Zimbra you have groupware solution completely independent of Windows on the client and server side.
Exactly. The only thing we really need is the ability to easily purchase a computer with no operating system. This doesn't need a law change either, just enforce the Microsoft EULA. If you refuse the contract (EULA) you are entitled to a refund on the software, and the fact that you have to jump through hoops and get denied repeatedly before you get a refund for Windows can be considered illegal.
All that needs to be done is to allow any customer to refuse the bundling of Windows with a computer and be able to get a refund. It should be the purchaser's choice if he wishes to purchase Windows. I am sick of literally no OEM offering a No Operating System option, when it is so easy to purchase a company with an AMD processor or a Nvidia video card. And since the software itself is protected by an EULA which (as a contract) can be refused, this doesn't really need to be a law change. The customer should not have to jump through hoops to get a Windows refund or a no-OS option.
It's perfectly possible to design a 30-bit processor, but multiple of twos require the least amount of transistors to implement for the amount of data they can push.
Yes, the "toy OS" which runs the majority of the Internet infrastructure. It's one thing to say you had a bad Linux experience but to call it a "toy OS" is plain trolling.
Call me when you setup a box that your uncle can seemlessly syncronize his PDA/Cellphone on while his 3 kids can update their 3 no name brand $40 MP3 players and his wife can print edit/print photos on her 3 year old canon photo printer taken on their Suprema digital camera...
Doesn't the Constitution say copyright is OK? Copyright under your definition would also be a violation of free speech. I can't write a story about Mickey Mouse without getting sued. If that isn't censorship, I don't know what is.
Stealing a screw driver from Home Depot (assuming they charge) is the crime known as "petty shoplifting". Typically the max penalty (depends on state though) is 120 days in prison, and no judge will levy that for stealing a screwdriver. Some forms of copyright violation is punishable by 5 years in prison PER offense (and is a felony). So stealing a screwdriver is much less of a crime in the eyes of law.
The EULA is a contract, and by contract law there must be a way to "refuse" to sign the contract and not accept the products. If Microsoft would want to not allow this occur, they'd have to drop the EULA.
This site has a picture of Bill Gates as the Borg. When did you think this site was ever not biased? I've been with Slashdot for a long time, and I have noticed that within the past year or so there was a SHARP increase in people who pro-Microsoft. It should be surprising when people constantly bash open source and promote Windows on Slashdot, since Slashdot IS a pro-open source anti-Microsoft news site. And yes, it is very suspicious, since Microsoft has already been busted astroturfing Digg.
This man owns a search optimization business, with its only purpose to increase the PageRank of other sites. There is no threatening letters. Mr. Dean Hunt fabricated them himself. He even writes in his website:
Over the coming weeks I am going to be attempting my very first viral campaign.
A viral campaign is something that has interested me for a long time, and if done properly it can be one of the most powerful tools any webmaster has.
There is NO evidence this guy is telling the truth, but there is ALOT of evidence this guy is lying his ass off. Don't believe this Slashdot readers!
Not true. From his his website he seems to really want people to blog about it. He thanks people for blogging about it and puts "easy to blog" links. He says on website before this "event" occurs that he will attempt a "viral campaign".

To send letters like that. I have a feeling Mr. Dean Hunt is fabricating this story, as his business is mainly google bombing and search engine optimization.
It raises some suspicion as this guy's business seems to be googlebombing. Perhaps he fabricated this story in order to get his website up in PageRank by people linking to him.
Don't think this is a game engine or anything, this is very close to being a wrapper around Direct X, execpt missing alot of features of DirectX including most of DirectInput. It's ok for making Xbox360 games, but there are MUCH MUCH better toolkits for free for PC development then XNA.
I don't want people to tell me what to do with my own stuff. Copyright basically says the stuff you own doesn't really belong to you. Because of this copyright is anti-private property.

He is ANGRY, therefore he is RIGHT!!
Channel9 is Microsoft's marketing site and they regularly censor anything critical of Microsoft.

What's your phone number?

Are you the type of person that never disputes false credit card charges? If so I have a lot of stuff to "sell" to you over here.

Read his post history. Every single post he writes he bashes open source and promotes Windows.
... which is exactly how you do it for Firefox.

Microsoft has seemed to invested a lot of money recently to improve their image on IT websites.

Cool, thank you for rational argument against copyright. I also agree the copyright restricts my personal property rights.
