  1. Re:Probably slightly dodgy on MacWorld Expo Traffic Analysis · · Score: 3, Informative

I ran around querying on other IRC channels, especially with people who were following up and having lively banter about MacWorld Expo; and asked them about MacWorld Expo. Apparently, I had 25 responses. Half of them were from the United States and they too could not access Macworld Expo AND Apple's US store site. The rest were sparsely placed all over the globe. I believe other Apple's regional sites serving their respective regions were not greatly affected because most people would just key in "apple.com" into their address bar.

apparently google has better programmers and engineers than most tech companies. it is not only the interesting concepts that they publish, but the courage to invest and experiment thins that are others dare not or rather, they think of as time-consuming.

how can i, personally, not think of a flash clip which protrayed the merge of google and amazon, to create googlezon, based on google's extensive grid engine. lets hope that wont be an accurate prediction, coz i dun wanna live in a world that has the rest of the world's information at their fingertips.

and it seems, google is on that path to 'immortality'.

    That is a great breakdown.

If a person, or team, who personally maintains a small website, then they definitely should be liable for the exposure of such contents.

With such humongous websites/portals, how can anyone keep track? Re-thinking of their business models (as someone suggested in another comment within this story) isn't the way to do things around the intarweb.

The user who uploaded the video clip should not only be held responsible but the authorities themselves. Instead of arresting the CEO for a cause that he is not aware of. Even if he is aware of, what little matter does it make? He could take the content offline, or perhaps he didn't do so (based on another comment) because there were certain policies that the portal was adhering to.

But why focus on such a trivial matter, even though it is an immoral one? Shouldn't the authorities have better managed their time and focus their energy on arresting other people who may be lurking around doing even worse things?

Here again, morality is presided over by ignorance. Once again, there is lawleness in law, just as there is some order in chaos and some chaos in order.

  4. Insanity on Chief of eBay's Indian Site Arrested, Released · · Score: 5, Interesting

This is utterly insane. Apparently the distribution of pornographic material doesn't constitute the rights for the authorities to arrest the CEO. Everyday auction sites around the world, not only Bazee, experience a new item submission every 5 minutes. In retrospect, how can anyone keep track of all incoming and outgoing items that registered users submit? This is totally absurd that the CEO is arrested based on this fact. Shouldn't the one who submitted the item be arrested instead? Or how about the people that appeared in the video? There is lawleness in these law.

most probably. its either europe or asia, never the states. unless you are talking about stuff from silicon valley companies. but then again, they are still manufactured in taiwan or china or thailand. so eventually. and in europe they got lots of great people and great stuff. but i suppose the states are rather contented with finishing college and parking their butts at home watching television with plain ol' tivo.

why does it always take so long for good stuff to reach the United States? Is there a digital divide between the East and West? Or is the West just too slow to realise they are that slow?

After years of dabbling with Microsoft Office Suite products, a drastic change will leave some end-users grasping for help. They will probably have to adapt to the new GUi and the new stylesheets ect.

    Is OpenOffice really for everybody?

What can we do to make others realise that non-proprietary products are the way to go in the future?
