  2. Driving Customers Away on Leaked IFPI Report Details Anti-Piracy Strategy · · Score: 1

I have stopped buying new music and new movies because of the activities of the rights holders. This will only drive more people away. I just wish the whole entertainment industry would dry up and go away, we'd all be a lot better off.

  3. $2.5 billion a pittance to use rectangle on Apple Wins EU Ban of Smaller Samsung Tablet, Demands $2.5 Billion In Damages · · Score: 3, Funny

Samsung could have used a circle, a pentagram or even a doughnut. There was no reason to copy Apple's proprietary rectangular design. Samsung needs to do their own research to find the best shape for their product and stop stealing Apple's.

  8. Monopolies need restraints on Verizon Claims Net Neutrality Violates Their Free Speech Rights · · Score: 1

Phone companies emerged from monopolies and in many ways they still operate like they are monopolies. In virtually every other industry business strives to provide more service at a lower cost. Telecommunications is the only industry that constantly strives to deliver less service at a higher cost. That is why they need regulation. Otherwise we would be back to tin cans and string as an improvement to their service.

  11. This was my first thought too. on Microsoft To PC and Tablet Makers: You're Not Our Future · · Score: 1

With a duopoly the consumer will pay dearly and the monopolists will rake in huge profits. That makes it inevitable that manufacturers will make their own tablets with some other OS installed. Manufacturers don't sell software and the Linux distributions will handle software support so it makes sense for them to produce their own. Microsoft could easily be setting itself up to be left with only the crumbs while Linux dominates the market and Apple takes the premium.

Censorship in China is illegal. Since it's illegal, it doesn't happen, so there is no need for a complaint mechanism. Amusing as that line of thinking (or not thinking) is, it isn't as bad as the Conservative government in Canada. Faced with criticism about it's environmental policies, it responded by taking away environmental organisations charitable status. Don't respond to criticism, wipe it out. Maybe that's why Prime Minister Harper refers to his jet as the Death Star.

Campfire songs are probably one of the biggest threats to the music industry today! Every weekend in summer there are thousands upon thousands of illegally sung songs, it's absolutely criminal! Once we stop that we'll have to work on the next big threat, humming. People have been humming tunes to themselves for generations and not a single cent has been paid to the writers for these illegal performances. It is criminal and must be stopped! Soon the technology will be available to read what people are thinking, and finally the music industry can put a stop to people remembering a tune. Remembering a tune you have heard is actually an illegal copy and people should rightly be imprisoned for illegally remembering music!
