Don't think so; I believe it to be a matter of accountability.
Here you have a company whos sole purpose is to code and sell SCO.
In trying to make SCO better they decided to include Linux binary support and also bridge the gap between the two.
Now one would think that if you were going to do something like this you would follow clean room rules to protect both your code as well as some one elses. Not to mention be extremely careful in how things are documented, and ensure that the employees are properly supervised, to eliminate any violations.
However if SCO did leak code, and did not properly research the problem or find out who did what. Then they are not holding themselves accountable for their own actions. And making things worse spreading lies about other companies; and also trying to extort money from them.
Now if SCO is infact the victim, then you are right, they have a right to investigate this violation on their property and seek compensation for their loss, by holding the guilty party accountable for _their_ actions.
The problem here is that SCO doesn't seem to care about accountability so they will make everyone else suffer for the failings of a small few.
It seems to me that they would be more successful to try to attract people to the telephone than they would by banning VoIP. For instance the telephone companies could adopt the methods & practices of USA Datanet (http://www.usadatanet.com); they could increase their revenue and decrease their operating costs by simply adapting/adopting the technology available to them. By drawing people to the telephone by way of THEIR VoIP solution they ensure a good customer base for not only an inexpensive long distance solution, but for their local calls by simply allowing customers to use what they already know (with an added bonus, no waiting for your phone to boot!).
Teacher: Why don't you have it; and don't tell me your dog ate it?!?
Jimmy: No, nothing like that ma'am. Due to recent litigation the Supreme Court ruled that the manufacture of writing utencils was illegal under the DMCA. And I used up my last one on last weeks writing assignment.
True... as of now Linux is mainly a server OS;
because, not of popularity, but of apps... and
what would happen to Windows if were to suddenly loose that advantage, lets say that Wine gets to
the point that Windows apps run just as natively
as Linux ones... What would happen then, very
quickly we would see people flocking to *nix
because their favorite app will run now, not to
mention the fact that they don't have to reboot
quite so often and that seg faults don't crash
the system. Unfortunately till then there will be a lot of dual-boot systems, or just Windows.
(I say to speed it up, the courts knock this off and get MS to open the API... lets speed this up)
I don't believe that it will ever get that far... (Blizzard realizing what they have done), for as long as there are geeks/hackers using the server on their own systems bnetd will never die. Its kinda like trying to kill all the ants in the world; by the time you've killed the second colony the first has been replaced. (Its happened already withe bnetd's predecessor starhack, and will happen again; the only thing that will change is the name and the group of people)
This is no different than those pain reliever commercials / styles. Both play with this 'Active Advertisement' games and just prove that they are no better. All they do is say just how bad the competition is but never truely help their case at all. You know... there is something to be said about those that promote themselves; acknowledge their strengths & weaknesses, and let everyone else know... now they are truely favorable in the public's eye.
I know that kidneys are one of the _easier_ (like replacing organs is easy [ atleast not for me =^ ] )... but you still have to find a compatible donor.... I wonder how these would fair....

Jimmy: I don't have it.
