It looks awful, the story is lame and the only cool feature are the bugs. (Flying deer, dogs with shotguns and riding a lady like a horse.)
If that is the game of the year then simply nothing has been produced worth while this year. Though Battlefield Bad Company 2 has more entertainment value. (Mostly I enjoyed blowing up everything, but it sadly feels like they re-skinned and tweaked the engine)
I'm surprised the second car was awarded, but being a second night of opening I can understand not contesting it.
The horrible aspect of this is there is tons of information regarding games of chance. Yet, it's all been overlooked in favor of more knee jerk responses.
Regardless, the aspect of setting up that environment seems like it could be fun. Not sure I would guarantee my work against the likes of failure when people keep touching it.
Actually, if you can prove it was a malfunction you are not liable.
I suppose you malfunctioned and picked up the gun, pointed it at the individual and then further accidentally fired 12 shots in the victim. This malfunction was further demonstrated by this unintended reloading of said pistol and thereby firing 12 more rounds. As long as you can convince a jury or judge of this behavior you are well to do. There is no clear yes or no in a trial, but rather probabilities of a specific outcome.
End user agreements are warnings are of course only laudable to a degree. Even then it is really dependent upon regulation and what a jury will believe. Same as the previous post really.
Finally, the "games of chance" is really just an illusion. There are tightly held regulations and very well known outcomes. It is unfortunately very easy for the house to know when this ratio is breached, but not so for the consumer. Unless it is not in favor of the consumer of course.
There hasn't been any real gambling going on for quite some time. Much like control the concept of being a winner in an establishment is very unlikely. Once the illusion is dropped it doesn't really have any appeal. Nearly everybody loses the moment they step into such a place unless you willingly enter only expecting entertainment.
I can tell you clearly how to identify when the machine is malfunctioning. In fact, it rings bells, throws up warning lights and generally behaves quite conversely to normal operation.
ie, when a slot machine is pouring money on the floor it is quite clearly broken. Seriously, why would they put all of those lights on there.
The machine will have to be taken offline for inspection and a report will be mailed to you. I've read up on the gaming commission and several stories. (Mostly in regards to my fascination with that damn super stacker game). The regulations for "games of chance" are pretty much out there for anyone to read. Tons of interesting stories and material there to fill a day of reading.
A great deal of the confusion regarding games of chance is that they are actually games of chance. This a heavily regulated economy from the slot machines in vegas to the super stacker II game in the local pub.
Every machine has a payout ratio and slots actually tend to be closer to 1. This is essentially how all games of chance function and much like some other posters have pointed out... it is how the machines are designed.
Legally, the unit is set to within a specific level of commission for payout. In the casino territory there are regulators onsite that you can appeal to if you feel you have been cheated. They literally must take the unit offline for inspection and sent you a notice to their findings.
The system works both ways with the advantage being to the house. They know when the payout has been incorrectly dispensed because there is a tightly held ratio that should be observed. All large payouts will also require the machine to be inspected. There will be no slipping through the cracks on foul play.
There are a good number of stories regarding games of chance. My favorite being an engineer who spotted the pseudo random number generator was somewhat predictable in a kino game. This guy happened to be one of the state inspectors, but like any red blooded human he decided to keep it under his hat.
Him and his friends did not win a great deal because nearly immediately the payout ratio (predicted) was found to be too high in favor of the human.
On the plus side, there appear to be some tails that the super stacker II game is ready to payout.
Now, does it suck they did not get the 11 million. Unfortunately, they found the illusion of winning in vegas was pretty much just that.
Ohio speeding tickets have a check box that is marked depending on the method they used to determine your speed.
Following is a valid check box and has been for years. The only remarkable tid bit is that it was upheld in the Ohio supreme court.
A comedian once joked about the speed limit in various states and asserted that most states do not care what speed you are going. Then he mentioned driving through Ohio and he was pretty pointed in explaining, "They care!"
The quick way to fix abuse of the system is to ensure the funds are poured into a state-wide fund rather then the local municipality. Otherwise, areas begin to build real budgets based on projections and become dependent upon that income.
On the plus side, it has become such a widely used form of taxation they have reduced the hassle in both acquiring the ticket and paying for it. The joy of efficiency!
I gave it up when I moved to a metropolitan area. I can pretty much get anywhere I need to go and the same goes for most of my co-workers. The guys with larger families tend to have what equates to a part time use vehicle.
For groceries I prefer a delivery service which charges a very nominal fee for the savings and time. However, if I want to drive some distance there is always zip car for quick trips.
That said for me being vehicle-less is more or less an experiment and I will likely purchase another one at the end of the trial. Where I previously resided was complete suburbia and there was no way to exist without a vehicle.
Notice, I could care less if I save the environment... I am a bastard like that...
I'm on DSL and I never hit my paid for maximum. More or less I expected never to actually reach this rate because it was stated up front this was a theoretical maximum and it is what it is. (Read, haha sucker.)
The 20% less then advertised speed I can actually live with. It's the latency that I find horrendous. In addition their hideous network of latency hell I also get interleaving. I love a little boost of 32ms added to an already slow and hoppy network.
Well it is unfortunately this or some awful awful ISP that has changed it's name to hide from the bad reviews.
On the bright side there is a new WiMax provider in the area and it may be a promising alternative.
I'm going to go with the mid flight refueling concept here. However, that is a bit awkward for highway driving and we'll need to stream line the process. Stay with me here....
Really, there is enough coverage across the body of the car that we can use this as a wide area positive terminal. It's really straight forward and we don't need to mess around with large complicated tubes. (Tubes are what screwed up the internet. I read it on slashdot.)
We can tie the body directly into a series of high yield capacitors as a quick staging area for the power burst. This array can connect to the charging mechanism that can safely deliver the power to the the lion batteries. (Remember where I said stay with me... keep at it).
For the final piece of the puzzle to really make it work and give it that McDonalds on the free way touch we'll need a large platform vehicle. All along the bed will be tesla coils ready to charge the next vehicle that pulls in. These charging stations can optionally be installed in toll booth or bridge locations as well.
With some simple license plate recognize we can easily bill the charge to the motorist at the end of the month.
Now, we have a practical electrical car design that will also eliminate both the homeless and bug populations.
My phone masquerades as an ad-hoc wireless ap. This has proven to be fairly useful, but it can consume a wee - bit too much juice.
If I feel like being tethered it will connect as an ethernet over usb device. I have not yet tested the latter solution with linux, but because neither windows 7 nor xp required specialty drivers I'm going to safely assume it will.
Note, that is not an active sync connection, but a real true to life usb ethernet connection.
In any event, the point is that there are sufficiently advanced technologies and standards that crazy drivers should not be necessary. Even the new mobile device manager app will function in usb ethernet mode. However, active sync 4.5 will not function with this setup. (It's a fairly quick setting to disable on my phone though to return to legacy usb serial mode.)
aTunes was the name of the software I previously used to use before replacing the OS.
It's fairly straight forward and it's fairly easy to create a selection to sync. I'm not wholly sure how the development has gone, but they may have made it entirely strange by now.
I would really just recommend seeing if rockbox supports your model. I'm afraid I really just enjoy drag and drop for the simplicity of it all.
Don't spend time helping those on objects that are out of your scope. Actively dissuade others from wasting your time regardless of the benefits you can bring to their team. Assisting teammates and other competitive entities will reduce your overall time spent on your projects.
When possible, shout as loudly as you can regarding the faults of those who are in direct competition or could at least could be blamed for your problems. In the game who shouts the loudest it is he with the deepest lungs who wins!
While I recognize all of these things are true I did not practice them. I likely could have been promoted faster had I not taken a more altruistic tact with regards to those around me. However, I felt it made my life and others around me a bit better if I focused on things other then completing my major projects and career growth.
However, life would probably have been a good deal easier if I was a complete bastard. Possibly, it could have resulted in even further monetary gain. The mistakes of youth!
I am mostly out of the rat race now and I actually make a good deal more. I suspect hell is much like corporate america, but with better benefits and more free time.
I reject this statement because it is fundamentally not true.
Case in point, the iTunes interface is not intuitive and neither are many of the features. I'm not alone in this belief and I've seen many a novices confused by it. However, people eventually do learn to navigate it.
The same goes for the ipod interface. Thankfully my nano is rock box compatible and I was able to install something that was a bit easier to sync my music with.
I pretty much find all of their interfaces confusing and I really don't have the desire to learn them. Good news is that there are many alternatives on the market.
I didn't say it would be an extremely happy work force and it does enforce the validity that even true capitalism wouldn't take a few dollars in exchange for it's own life.
The joys of 19th century living. That was a time when you could really get your hands dirty with textiles and other more to the ground industry.
Why had it not been encumbered with safety regulations, forced wage increases and other unsavory additions just think of the beast it could have grown into.
I'm afraid we've slayed the dragon that could have been and replaced him with a characture of himself.
On a positive note they try tremendously hard to save their awful reputation. At least, they troll newegg a lot and try to encourage customers to contact support.
It always seemed like a red flag to me.
Just think... one horribly cheap SD card has forced thousands of individuals to waste some previous bits of their time. The total combined value of those wasted hours would have bought hundreds of SD drives.
However, even with that and several other downloads I still do not even come remotely close to 200gb a week. I also watch netflix nightly.
The compression even on HD resolutions is still fairly conservative in regards to bandwidth concerns.
Though you reference a good deal of local network traffic. I don't believe you are accurately measuring your upstream/downstream bandwidth.
ie, if you are rating at the nic with playon transmitting mpeg2 encoded streams to a dlna service it would rate much higher then the actual flv download.
The movie Idiocracy wasn't really a work of fiction, but rather a glimpse at the world of tomorrow. In the movie, science had focused on developing drugs to stop balding and increase erections.
As a matter of pure interest I decided to read some RDR reviews.
I skipped several sites simply because they were mainstream and probably never gave a bad review in the life.
Nearly every review followed this same formula. RDR doesn't compete with said element from GTA IV or other game, but you should appreciate it anyway.
The reviews are more like excuses why X element is kinda lack luster, but if you look at it differently it isn't so bad.
I suppose money can buy you love and happiness.
While were on RDR...

Marketing department has issued a correction to your statement.
"Bad ass software."
Sign me up!
I actually manage quite well without a car.
I gave it up when I moved to a metropolitan area. I can pretty much get anywhere I need to go and the same goes for most of my co-workers. The guys with larger families tend to have what equates to a part time use vehicle.

I remember quite clearly that congress said the FTC cannot regulate cable companies because consumers have a choice.
So, clearly you not correct and you have a choice!
Congress told me so :P

The onion is very frighteningly prophetic.
I remember some pre-war pieces I read years after it had all started and I thought I was reading some modern literature.
If I had time I would skim through the archives to find some more examples, but I leave that an activity for the disbelievers.

It's not exactly special that Wegman's stocks their beers. They have an oddly large collection of off the wall brews.
After moving far away from the area I now deeply miss Oak Barrel Stout.

That is a terribly childish view to believe that even in pure capitalism there would be no regard for self preservation.
Without a work force there are not likely to be future gains.
Even a pure capitalist regime would have some system (even if it is external to itself) to provide for at least a set number of individuals.
I believe you are confusing capitalism with the inability to perceive gains beyond the absolute moment.

Sorta drive specific.
Mostly controller specific.
Praying the controller on the disks speaks the same commands.
If you know the ioctels you can twiddle the bits with debug, but it's not something you are going to get out of your generic usb storage interface.
