Car dealers do make a copy of your license though- something to ensure you do not steal the product. Crippleware is doing the same thing. They use methods to make sure you don't just walk away with the product.

See it as a blessing instead of a curse. We're all working too much. I do see your point though. Mindspring keeps me up 99% of the time and my client is really understanding when the DSL does go down.
