Comrade Stalin is smiling. Communism asserts categorically that God does not exist. Lenin stated that, "Atheism is a natural and inseparable portion of Marxism, of the theory and practice of Scientific Socialism." Once the existence of God is denied, all the moral laws that come from God are abolished. As the great Russian philosopher and author Dostoevsky said, "If there is no God, anything is permissible." Having rejected the divine moral code, the Communists proceeded to invent one of their own. Lenin defined it as, "Proletarian morality is determined by the exigencies of the class struggle." Applying this, any statement that assists the Communist revolution becomes true and any action that advances the Communist cause become righteous. Thus, the mass exterminations carried out by Stalin, Mao ze dong and Pol Pot were considered benign and righteous.

  18. Re:Perl's had it's day - It's become like COBOL on Apocalypse 5 Released · · Score: 1

To compare languages like perl, COBOL, C, C++, Java to each other is just not possible. First of programmers tend to have a favourite language and nothing will convince him/her that there is anything in this world that's better. Secondly each language solves a problem that other languages cannot easily solve on that given platform in that given environment. COBOL runs mostly on mainframes. In transaction server environments like CICS and IMS. Churning out bank balances, benefits and credit card transactions. The programs tend to run for milliseconds then terminates. COBOL pumps out a couple of digits and dies. Using as little as possible storage with the minimum CPU usage. The reason is that for every one time you ask for you bank balance, thousands of other customers are asking for theirs at that moment, and they also do not want to wait. For this COBOL is brilliant. Try to do that in Java on CICS, or even C and C++, the response drops because the memory usage shoots up, the cpu usage by transaction x2 and the customer gets tired of waiting. Perl does not run on CICS or IMS.(I wish it did though!) My point is this, don't use COBOL to write *nix scripts. You will get more joy driving a 6inch nail through your left middle finger. Don't use Java to write CICS/IMS applications. Write GUI apps and games in C and C++. Use PERL for everything else. Don't use C# at all. Oh and no...COBOL is not dead and will never die.
