Have to be impressed with what was achieved there.. the usual story of a lot of spare parts, spare time and some good old human brainpower:) But the fairly intermittent results and usual dubious quality of the housing etc (due to your own competence) all say to me.. well its nice but why bother.. current ATA suits me just fine for now!
Except the funding wont be unlimited - remember MS's aim with XBOX is to fund it at a large loss for say 5 years to gain enough market share to start ousting Sony and Nintendo, if this fails then I suspect it will be game over.
MS needs key partners like EA and Eidos to help give more momentum to this because as shown with other online games (like Counterstrike for example) you get a ground swell of support and then all of a sudden everyone and his dog is going out to buy a copy (and an XBOX).
not being overly experienced myself in design of infrastructure for critical and data sensitive systems, surely this thought of thing is not the newest idea in the book. I would have thought most agencies would already have "critical" and "secure" networks in place to deal with emergency situations like mass DDOS or vulnerability attacks especially with all the paranoia for the last 5 years odd about cyberterrorism..
I hope that this is the start of a different way at looking at what the music industry has to provide to the consumer other than the music itself. From the look of this approach Bon Jovi would seem to want to try and sell the idea on the basis that you are buying into a more complete package (music + value add). For someone who just wants to rip off a Bon Jovi song then I dont know if it would make any difference, but it does give a lot more incentive to fork over the money if you are actually getting something distinctly different from a CDR some kid at school is passing around.
If you follow what he is saying it makes no sense at all:) Backed up by the fact the images are all nicked from other sources and the power supply is very obviously still in the case and powering the motherboard...
