My sister lives there and is also a democrat. She is an average New Yorker, so I don't presume anything! Ask the question, should they pay rent? I didn't say get rid of the UN, withdraw or move it, I want it reformed. Comprehend what I wrote and don't assume so much! If you like an estimated $21 Billion scandle, Kofi Annan's son Kojo implicated and 10 years of sanctions, constant bombings in the no fly zones and were a fan of Saddam being in power. Sitting by while massacres happen in Rhuwanda, Sudan, and Kosovo. Doing nothing, until others have to act. All the while, collecting 3 Billion dollars a year from the US , while other countries pay little or nothing. Pretty much the status quo, you are not "average".
I agree with what you have written, but that is beside the point. It still doesn't mean Warren Anderson should get US protection. They set up that plant there to profit by not having to worry about unions, decent wages or safety. The US should extradite him for trial. It would set an example to other companies, that when you do business outside the US, you follow that countries laws and you won't be protected by the US for your own misdeeds. By protecting Union Carbide, the US set's itself up for finger pointing. And about the oil for food scandle, the bulk of those oil sales from vouchers went to US oil companies. We need to look at our back yard their too! Those companies were aware of what was going on. The UN is quickly outliving it's usefulness, there needs to be some serious reform. They also need to start paying rent. The little backstabbers have been living here free, getting the most of their funds from US taxpayers, all the while breaking state and federal laws with diplomatic immunity. Ask an average New Yorker how they like their guests!
The key is never stop learning. I spent 20 years in the AirForce, 10 years in Electronics. But the last 10 were ground stations for U2 spy planes, SGI workstations. That gave me 10 years of unix experience. I attended a Solaris administrator course, a C++ course, an Ada course and about a dozen others in electronics. I got a AS in Electronics and a BS in CS in a local college in Virginia while still serving. I have held a Top Secret SCI security clearance. I'm currently working on a Masters in Computer Science. I now work as a contractor for NASA. Getting work after the AirForce was easy, I started work before I was officially retired. The key was to never stop learning, volunteer for any and all training and continue to take a couple of classes every single semester. It took 7 years to get a BS degree, but it was well worth it. If I had never left Michigan by enlisting I probably would be working at a factory like my father, grandfather and brother.
There are ways to get congress to act. But it is totally impossible to get enough commitment from the IT community. If there were a voluntary national IT strike until the copyright and software patent laws were overhauled. But you could never get enough IT people to do it. And if you could, you would still not get the H1B visa slaves to commit.
There you go using the word "banned". Now whose trolling? He didn't "ban" anything, you want it? You can pay for it! If you want others to pay for it, your going to have to vote for it in numbers large enough. When I used the words "aborted" fetuses. I meant it in those terms, throw away babies. These wern't fertilized eggs, they were many, many more cells than that. And most of those existing lines came from late term abortion clinics.
Not at all. These are not created by aborting a fetus. In fact most attempts at using embryonic stem cells have met with tumors and rejection. But cord stem cells have been used successfully used to treat 75 illnesses. And to set the record straight, Bush didn't ban stem cell research in the US. He only increased government funding but limited it to those embryonic stem cells already harvested. Big difference, he didn't say you could not donate your money to the research. Just that the estimated 60 million people who find it morally apprensible to abort babies to harvest cells don't have to pay for it too.
I spent 20 years in the Air Force and there are reasons that they are stuck with windows. One big reason is the Airforce uses electronic forms. In government there is a form for everything. PerForm or ProForm are the tools they use it's only available on windows. Everything from performance reports to special requisitions are done right in the program and the form is usually emailed. There are also alot of units that have various Access databases. The people creating these are not IT people, they are your average airman and officer who can "use" a computer. The Airforce has alot invested in windows, literally billions. They cannot throw out every windows system and start over it's not feasable. But this doesn't mean they don't have quite few various linux installs around. I worked in intelligence and we needed a fast, cheap mail and file server for a deployed location and we didn't have the usual IT staff there. The entire unit was used to Irix on our workstations. So for the deployed location we went with slackware!
Well, yes. I work for nasa, but have several friends who retired and got re-hired as contractors. A Top Secret security clearance combined with a CS degree will get you alot!
I retired after 20 years and 2 weeks. It took over 10 years to get a CS degree, especially with 4-6 month deployments but it was worth it! I was very lucky though, I left khobar towers about 2-3 weeks before Osama Bin Laden blew up the barracks!
It's used to make a Doc clone, control XMMS, Weather Applets etc. It does everything that Konfabulator does. If you have any original ideas by a python book and start coding.
Since when is C the same as CO2? Burying coal is not my concern. Burying a liquid CO2 which warms and becomes a greenhouse gas is. Next time read & understand your chemistry book.
Ah, but CO2 is good for life, just not too much of it at once
The problem with storing vast amounts of CO2 underground is when it does get released and it will, it will flood the atmosphere with CO2. In smaller amounts plants can convert the CO2 to oxygen. So we could concievably add CO2 to the atmosphere as long as we increase rain forest size and create a balance to the CO2. But an extremely large amount of stored CO2 being released because of tectonic motion is not a pleasant thought. Everywhere man inhabits, we kill vast amounts of plant life. We now have billions of humans on the earth consuming resources and producing waste. How long do you think we can sustain that? We have to discover "new" sources of energy, shrink the worlds population dramatically and take care of our resources. All these things are really tough problems. But as long as we as a world, not just a few industrialized countries, work towards solutions. we can eventually solve these problems. But the current situation is while some countries work towards solving these problems, many others don't, instead they get exemptions because they are poor countries. Worse yet, their populations are growing rapidly because they are having 15 kids per family all born into poverty.
It's not perpetual motion. Think! Both anti-matter & matter are obliterated and turned into energy. The matter was produced by the big bang, our sun etc. The anti-matter is produced with energy produced elesewhere. Since matter is being converted to energy the laws of thermal dynamics are intact. The amount of energy needed to create the anti-matter only need be less than the conversion to energy of the mass of the anti-matter and normal matter. I never said we get anything for free, just less dirty by products since the conversion is more efficent than fusion or fission.
Anti-matter if it can be produced with less energy than what it produces could yield tremendous clean energy. It could also be used to create a very destructive particle beam weapon.
Being unable to accept new ideas that differ from your preconceived notions is incompatible with science. It's not just a religous attitude, some of the mosed learned scientists are just as guilty. If a scientist writes a paper that challenges the status quo, they are usually ridiculed and torn apart by their peers. Even when faced with the absolute proof of something, they refuse to accept that they are wrong. People like that exist everywhere not just churches.
Give this program one month and the hackers will have a worm that targets only those customers that have Microsoft Update registery keys identifying the as elite. 3l33t h@x0r$ everywhere will want to prove that title only goes to them.
You are allowed to use 2.4Ghz spectrum there isn't any policy stopping wireless phones. The policy is against private wireless access points. So they haven't infringed on your right to use the spectrum but rather use a particular device. Shotguns are legal, but try and keep one in a dorm. They own the building, you signed an agreement. Don't like it? You can always move out. If the are unable to fill dormitory space due to unreseanable demands, they will relax them. But as landlords, they ahve every right to decide what items can be used in their buildings.
I came from a very poor school, we couldn't afford a lot of things other schools took for granted. We were a rural community and many kids had to do farming chores before going to school. My father had to drive 60 miles each way to get to a factory job. Yet our school excelled in SAT scores and the percentage of students going on to college was much higher than the state average. The reason was the community; parents were concerned about education, not just needing a daytime sitter. My mother was a custodian there I couldn't get away with anything. Neighbors told neighbors what their kids had been up to. They created a culture where education was valued over $200 sneakers, and criminal activity was not hip. People who couldn't form complete sentences were not admired they were pitied.
This can be an honest discussion or it can breakdown into trolls, flame wars and moderators knocking anything against their personal views.
It's difficult enough to maintain civilty when discussing poltical views. I personally think it's best to leave politics to political weblogs. There are already thousands of them out there.
You probably have but don't know it. You just saw a progress bar. Microsoft thinks your mind would explode if it told you really what is happening at every step. They could be checking your software registrations and scanning for mp3 files right now for all you know.
NONE of the vets in question served WITH Kerry They either just served in Vietnam or in other boats.
Steve Gardner manned a double.50-caliber machine-gun mount in Lt. John Kerry's swiftboat. He served under Kerry and served under several other officers as well. His recollections are featured prominately in "Unfit for Command".This is what he has to say:
How can Kerry possibly be commander in chief when he couldn't competently command a six-man crew? Kerry was erratic. He hardly ever did what he was supposed to do. His command decisions put us in more peril then he should have. But mostly he just ran. When John Kerry looked out the bow of the boat and he saw tracer fire coming after him, he'd turn and run.
Those other veteran include his entire immediate chain of command
BUT the SBVFT are clearly lying, they are clearly organized by people who have done similar things in the past. Is that of no consequence to their message, is that not foul play ?
And $100 million spent by MoveOn.org to launch a series of personal attack ads against the veterans who have challenged Mr. Kerry's Vietnam "service." MoveOn.org is financed and run by numerous Clinton-era Democratic donors. This same organization has repeatedly run ads comparing G.W to Hitler. Sorry, Hitler was a much better speaker and I haven't yet seen him call anyone the "Master Race". It really hard to take anyone seriously who is an extremist whether liberal or conservative. Bush is not Hitler & Kerry is not a baby killing Ghegis Khan. Funny, but that's what Kerry called every veteran who served in vietnam, except himself of course. This is why vietnam vets that lost limbs were spit upon by the very people they lost those limbs for. People who were never there claim rampant abuses, but it's always second or third hand information. Even Kerry said he never saw any abuses but it was common. I'm not saying some people weren't animals, with the amount of people who served there (Millions over 10 Years) there are suprisingly few. But people who make blanket statements about an entire group of people without any first hand specifics are no better than racists, or gay bashers. They are just idiots. We already have an intellectually challenged leader thank you very much!
Calling Moores work foul play doesn't work. He is clearly stating his purpose (and nobody has collected the reward for proving him factaully at fault)
Are you aware of the fact that the mother of U.S. Air Force Maj. Gregory Stone, who was killed in Iraq, has called the filmmaker Michael Moore "a maggot that eats off the dead," for using the major's funeral in his film - and also using, without family permission, footage of Army Reservist Peter Damon, who lost part of both of his arms. Michael Moore's film is nothing more than 2 hours of footage taken out of context to make a point he said early on in the movie. It is just a complete collage of inuendo and half truths made to fool the public. Because Mr. Moore thinks he is superior in intellect to the american public and you'll overlook any innaccuracies because, hey, it's just a movie right?
Now let me emphasize, I'm not pro-Bush!
I want a reasonable third choice! I'm not going to debate everyone here about this election because, there isn't a good choice!
Are you saying people who don't support Bush are terrorists?
No you read to much into it. The sig infers that terrorists would vote for someone else because then it would be easier to commit a terrorist act without Bush invading your country. It's similiar to the "Who would Bin Laden vote?" for ad.
It's one persons opinion, we still can have them can't we?
To be a terrorist you have to fund or commit a terrorist act. To help a terrorist all you have to do is throw away your vote or not vote at all. I'm not telling you who to vote for, make up your own mind, vote and be quiet about it.
You'll notice that Bin Laden isn't releasing videos to Al Jazera(SP?) anymore. If fact, there have been more terrorists captured, then in the previous 20 years. There have been several plots that have been foiled. Bushes domestic policies suck, the Cheney-Haliburton connection stinks to high heaven, but he has marginalized Osama bin Laden and removed a very evil dictator from office. Most Americans didn't need the WMD accusations to know Saddam Hussein needed to be removed. Many people who end up voting for Bush will do so not because they like Bush. Rather they don't trust John Kerry, he has admited to war crimes in vietnam (Entering Cambodia and shooting someone). Insulted vets claiming it was routine for U.S. soldiers to rape, pillage like "Genghis Khan" and cut off ears. And then brags how he was a war hero. Well real heros are quiet about it. A real hero doesn't tell everyone who'll listen they are a hero. The braggard is a drunk at the end of the bar who can't keep their facts straight. It's not just a few vets who are calling Kerry on his claims it's 267! It amazes me how the Democrats hounded Bush about his guard service, made Michael Moore their golden boy, yet cry foul when a group of veterans organize against him.
God I wish their was a viable third choice!!!!!!!!!

The United States is the largest financial contributor to the UN and has been every year since its creation in 1945.
I agree with what you have written, but that is beside the point. It still doesn't mean Warren Anderson should get US protection.
