Fluke did a good gesture and I applaud them. What happens to the 2000 multimeters that are held up ? if they get destroyed... its not a win in my book.
I was 9 years old ( 1989) when my school (INDIA) introduced computers . I learned the LOGO and BASIC in couple of years. I spent numerous hours after school and on weekends so that I could have the computer to myself as opposed to being shared between three students during regular class hours.
I asked my dad to buy one and I kinda remember him saying that costs something like a few months of his salary.
At my new job, the computer had a KDS 17" Flat CRT monitor. Within couple of days I noticed my eyes would hurt by the end of the day and sometime water too. After observing I saw the image displayed on the monitor would shake by small amounts continuously, once I replaced it with a NEC LCD the problem was gone.
I noticed similar thing with my mini-itx connected to my LCD HDTV ( using VGA port).
Try a different monitor AND/OR a different CPU.
One option is remove GPL'ed code and use some closed source code.
Other option: what if they release the code under GPL. Does this mean I can use it to make my own application for Skype network. what happens to the proprietary Skype protocol ?
I will definitely buy it just to support the cause. I am not a big fan of NIN but liked a couple of songs from their previous albums.
Just my two cents
Cellphone service in India has NO contracts. Either you take the "prepaid" where in you buy certain amount of currency which is valid for certain days OR "postpaid" where in you get a bill at the end of the month. The best part is there is no airtime charge for receiving a call, your airtime is charged only for the calls you make from the cellphone. I am now in US and I miss the Indian cellphone system along with the tasty home food:-) .
I could not open the link, probably/.ted.There was a post on/. earlier about this type of lens made by Philips and independently by a french company Varioptic and there was a lawsuit for patents. http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/12/02/194025 5&
A year ago when I used to work, I was coding one application that outputs data in CSV format. the data was 5 columns and the rows could be anywhere from 500 to 2500. I had to Line plot this data and analyze the data, make changes to the system (PID gains - Controls ) and get data again. OpenOffice(calc) was damn slow in plotting the data, If i remember correctly it took abt 10 - 30 seconds to plot, just for comparison I checked it in Excel, it could plot the same data in about 2 seconds.
I am an Electronics Engineer working for a small company in Bangalore ( yeah...INDIA). The job involves designing circuits, testing , coding for controllers etc. After two and half years I get paid about 14,000 rupees per month ( about $311.11). The current situation in bangalore for a starting tech job in an MNC is about 20,000 Rs/month ($444.44). My skillsets are pretty good I can get into an MNC where I will get paid about 30,000 Rs. why I am sticking with this job?? I pretty much enjoy it, most of my friends are into big companies (Indian & MNC), and i get to know that money is good but not much of a job satisfaction.
well with the kinda salary I am getting now, though can't lead a luxrious life, but am happy with what ever I am able to. The reason I am sticking with this job is it offers tremendous growth. I have developed lots of new skillsets in a variety of fields. To be realistic.. I will not stick with this job for long.
My point is, If you are a fresh graduate, look for a job that gives you a chance for a good growth in your field of interest and develops varied skillsets. For a few years you can work for a low pay. This can act as a insurance for your future.
I forgot to mention my salary dues are over 6 months now.
