    Wine itself needs more funding since currently it does a dismal job of running many Windows programs.

    For some values of dismal maybe. In my experience, most things work out of the box these days.

    Codeweavers doesn't make Wine!!

    They sell a version of Wine. They are also company that will gladly take Google's money to do work on Wine. They are the same ones who helped make Google Maps and Picasa run on Linux.

    Perhaps linux will be stronger if it learns to acknowledge the existence proprietary software vs remaining a religious movement.

    Perhaps you missed the point. It is to make proprietary software obsolete.

    If I was a Canadian politician I would point out instances where US citizens inside the USA violate Canadian law.

    Capital punishment comes to mind. They are the killing people while they complain about us downloading a few movies. It's lunacy.

    Probably for the same reason that many other people hate them. They announce themselves to people as being a "webmaster". It's a really stupid title. They don't preform wizardry. If I can't at least be a "codemaster", and maybe our plumber gets to be called a "pipemaster", then we'll continue to mock anyone who uses the word. Oooh, "plungemaster". I think he'd go for that.

    It's too bad English requires titles to have initial-capital letters in almost every word. It leads to confusion.

    In contrast to other languages which insist that inanimate objects should be classified as masculine or feminine, capitalizing names of things isn't very confusing at all. ;)

    How you set a record deficit every year your in office then claim to be on track for a balanced budget, I'm not sure.

    Anyone who cared could see the Fed was going to fuck every single American via inflation, and Ron Paul was the only one on the hill who gave a shit. Inflation is now at the highest it has been in more than three decades. Ron Paul tried to prevent it.

    The Fed? Inflation is high because your dollar went to shit because of your deficit. If Ron Paul could have stopped the Iraq war he damn well should have.

    Your national visa card is approaching 5 trillion dollars. That's the problem.

    I hope this exploit will help me unlock my AV700. I have regretted buying this thing for 2 years. Maybe some day I'll be able to do what I want with it I just hope it isn't (even more) obsolete by that time.

    Does amarok or rhythmbox even minimuze as small as xmms? I can't find a screenshot of either not taking up most of the screen.

    With Amarok, I use the notification applet most of the time. There isn't any reason to have it open and taking up most of the screen that I can see except when changing tunes. Then there's the player window or the minimized version of the player window

    I'm not sure what you're looking for, but one of those has to be it.

    It's important that we, as a community, reward the good guys (with more purchases) and to let the sales people know why we choose them over their competitors.


    That's very hard to do when who the good guy is keeps changing every week. Sometimes it's Via, sometimes it's Intel, sometimes it's AMD. All of them making an effort to move in the open direction, but none of them with a truly spectacular offering.

    ATI was once the darling of the open source community, then fell out of favour, and seems to be coming back again since the AMD ownership.

    I don't replace my hardware as often as this stuff changes.
