For anyone that has control of your external router, just block port 139 from entering your network. For cisco devices setup an extended access list that block UDP/TCP on 139 and apply it to inbound packets on your external interface.
Just remember to make your last line of the access list "allow ip any any" or you will suddenly notice that you have no connectivity as cisco's access lists default to deny unless specified.:)
I used StarBand for quite a few months. All I had was problems with it. A cloud would move in the way, and I lose my access. Most of the time is was timeouts due to the length of time it took to transmit across it. If you just want to quickly receive large files, it may be for you. If you plan on using it for web surfing, or god forbid any programs that require a constant connection, then it is not for you.
Flat out. All of the character and items are property of Mythic. They created the ideas, they created the game. You pay them to play the game. If you sell something for real money, you are selling something that they have the property rights on. Legally they can go after you for some or all of the money made from selling something that belongs to them. Rather than do this, I see no problem with just making it against the TOS. This saves EVERYONE a lot of trouble.
If you click "AGREE" then you agree. No ifs ands or buts. If you click it and don't take the time to read it, then that is your fault.
If you want a good analogy, it would be like you coding some AWESOME program, and then people making money selling snipits of your code to other people on the internet. You would be a little angry wouldn't you.
As for it being hard to level....it is supposed to present some challenge. It's a game. If everyone could be level 40 after only playing for 8 hours a day for a week, the game would be no fun. You would have to many higher level people running around. For those of you that have high level characters on DAoC or EQ, you know how hard it is already to camp a spawn that you need. Now imagine 500-1000+ more people waiting on that same spawn at the same time as you, just because anyone can get to that level.
It's supposed to be challenging guys. That's what makes it fun. But you have to respect the TOS and the rights of the game makers. If you don't like it, find another game to play.
True. I stand corrected. :)
