0.6% on all transactions? good luck getting 0.01% on FX transactions, seriously, that would NEVER go down... people would just trade in other jusisdictions. A 0.60% tax on all trades would destroy the united states...

a marginally more sensible 0.005% tax on all worldwide financial transactions is being proposed, if this goes ahead it will raise a lot of cash, but this would have to be an international decision, not something for the US alone to decide - if they do, forget about the US surviving in the top 5 of world markets.

For me its the same problem, I wear the leave in overnight lenses occasionally and dont ger enough practice.

My girlfriend puts hers in/takes them out in seconds, for me it can take a few minutes to half an hour...

I have very deep set eyes, so that even the person showing me how to insert the lenses had to make several attempts.

Once every few months i make the effort (before a beach or ski holiday for example) but generally its easier for me to just wear glasses.

what about... all of the above other than just launch a solar panel array, a small water extraction plant an electrolysis plant and a compression plant.

you have water, you have abundant sunlight, you now have loads of hydrogen and oxygen in a much "cheaper" gravity well that can now be used for fuel for any missions...

is it just me or would this be a fantastic saving given how difficult it is to currently get fuel into orbit?

many shipowners try that... the problem is the people that work on the vessels arent generally well paid (save captain, etc) so you either need to hire guards (expensive from reputable companies, dangerous otherwise) or have a trusted staff (again, expensive and potentially dangerous...)

crew generally dont want the weapons there - if they are attacked and fire back chances are they, or some of their collegues, will be killed if they start trying to shoot back. if they dont have guns the ransom is paid (it almost always is for commercial vessels) and they are safe...

say a 20% chance of death or a 100% chance of a months (conservative) improsonment? which would you choose?

disclaimer: i am very good friends with a shipowner who recently had to pay a large ranson to free his ship and crew

Do you know where youd get a topological map for that area?

Assuming verical cliff walls surrounding the dead sea and digging a canal to it would lower world sea levels by ~1.95mm - in reality would be a lot more (810sq km surface area, 422m below "sea" level), doing likewise with the Caspian sea (28 metres below "sea" level and >300,000sq km surface area) would drop world sea levels by ~6cm.

That basin has a trough of around 155m below sea level - in Djibouti (neighbouring Ethiopia) I believe - only 125m in Ethiopia. I assume the area would be huge, maybe get a couple dozen cm of respite with that...
