How'd you start, personally (I mean on the inside, like emotionally and morally), and how has Id software changed you? for better or worse? and what do you think of the way that the software/IS industry is headed? (greediness for example)
...that they get enough money from Athlon sales to go ahead and smash Itanium with their Sledgehammer(wow! I sound like a marketing type).
If they do make it to production, I know the Sledgehammer will be a superior chip, AMD has proven themselves many times in the past and won't let us down.
I read about this in my newspaper this morning, and kinda thought it was odd having a 6-foot 4-inch tall elf King|Lord|Baron|Leader|whatever...but it'd be nice if they made this movie the way that the X-Files movie and the Star Trek movies were made...so you can watch it even if you don't have much knowledge of the game (or, in the X-Files/Star Trek case, the TV series). I think that a well-done mass appeal would be great, but I won't hold my breath.

The conservation goes a long way part is VERY important! moderate this one up! if more people just used their archived pr0n/warez/mp3s, we'd all be a bit better off over the next week(or however long?) that it takes to get it back together....
Well, you see, it's all a CONSPIRACY by the NSA to get the HACKERS that everyone talks about on CNNBCBS news shows to notice the LACK OF INTERNET SECURITY and HACK THE NSA SITE. Then, they HIRE OR KILL the EVIL HACKERS that RISKED NATIONAL SECURITY for EVIL HACKER bragging rights.
It's all about headlines...
this was sarcastic, and I doubt that it's even coherent. Dan
It's not a tired PR stunt...we've never really had closure on this one. None of the previous hack-in-the-box contests were "won" officially, so I hope this one plays fully out.
I tried to tell myself "Ayn Rand is right...Microsoft are good people...I like Microsoft...Microsoft only played fair, too bad the little guys couldn't take it..." well, I guess I was wrong...d'oh. I'm gonna go back to being a cynic about *everything*. What MS did this time was truly dirty.
Maybe the G5 will finally make the MacOS run as fast as linux and some windows machines. Macintoshes have always had great chips, but the software's overhead has been killing the speed and making most people think that Macs are slow and a joke. May the G5 prove the power that Apple can wield.
That java would make the *coolest* toys ever made that much cooler...I may have to sell a kidney and pick up as many Mindstorms systems and a Palm Pilot as I can...
Wizards of the Coast is worse for card gaming competition than Microsoft is for fair computer OS competition. WotC uses strong arm tactics, high prices, and "extend and embrace" tactics to slowly take over the world of CCG's. (Collectible Card Games). I only hope that Hasbro will grab them and curb their craziness, allowing other, smaller CCG houses to spring up.
Pleeeeeeease let's do away with silliness like this? Isn't there a way of catching, neutering, tagging, and releasing people like this?
STOP IT, PEOPLE!

I think that free beer would help a lot...with everything...I see a lot about it here on slashdot, and free beer seems to be a favorite of the crowd...
I have one in mp3 format, the others are on a tape(bleh! TAPE!). I'd hand them out except for one minor thing: I don't hold the copyrights on the music that the mixes are made of. You see, I made them as part of a new organization that was protected and could use anything it wanted as long as it wasnt for profit, and they didnt claim to own it(or something like this) Does anyone know if I'm allowed to distribute strung-together 30 second clips of songs that are mixed together?
Well, way-back-in-the-day I played baritone sax, tenor, sax, and alto sax, along with drums in band...this was 6-8th grades(8-6 years ago). I then rediscovered my musical ways in 11th grade when I took a class in my high school's multi-million dollar audio/video lab. (this isn't your common high school: http://www.cat.pinellas.k12.fl.us) I learned that I can mix stuff pretty well, I made about 5 quality mixes and did sound effects on several films...some of the mixes won awards and my friends actually requested them for personal use, they actually wanted a SCHOOL PROJECT to listen to outside of school...it was strange! As to what I mixed...I made a Prodigy Mix, a Kraftwerk Mix, a pop/hip-hop/rap megamix, and a 30 minute "whatever fits next" mix that consisted of everything I could get my hands on. I love audio, can't wait till I get money to buy a mac for some mad mixing fun. Macs are the only way to go for that kinda thing, by the way...
Well, you asked, and you got at least one answer:) I hope others reply, it's an interesting thing.
I'm still trying to figure out what part of your little story you left out? You see, I run ICQ, encode mp3's, browse the web(including sites with heavy java on them), AOL, STB TV Pro(tv card viewer), mIRC32, WinAMP, and have the active desktop full of crap at the SAME TIME and I experience a crash under these conditions every day....of course, that crash is caused by lightning which takes the power out daily...:) Windows 98se with MSIE 5 is what I'm running on an AMD K6-3/366 with 128 megs of RAM, in case you're wondering. I run it because I don't have time to write my own drivers and compile things I need, I just want to put the CD in and install what the happy people in redmond put together for me. I have no problems with Windows98 save for the $99 price tag, but I still happily paid it. It's great.
What is up in the air with you? Evita never was winning a Grammy!
