    The Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago is another example of Toyota investing money in basic research (in this instance, computer science). The institute employs a number of full-time permanent research faculty, supported by a $100 million endowment.

    The reason is that the top coders in America are already happily employed by companies such as Google. They have less incentive to make a name for themselves through these competitions.

    Despite the name of the publication, it should be understood that the Christian Science Monitor is not an intensely religious newspaper. In fact, it is one of the most objective and well-written news publications in national circulation. The CSM is often cited by debaters, etc. as a reputable and impartial source of journalism (much more integrity and journalistic value than the likes of CNN, for example).

    I didn't take CSE 350, but his version of CSE 240 is the fall of 2001 was by far the worst course I have ever taken. Poorly designed, poorly organized, and poorly executed.
