You are right. I bet there is some strange thing going on. Much like the airlines now sell each other's tickets. It would make much more economical sense that Sony put Sony products on thier products. But then again, maybe they don't want the whole fiasco that Microsoft had with putting Microsoft products in, well, Microsoft products.

I have a Voodoo4 4500 and almost everything is compatable with that. It runs nice, why the heck would I dope up money to Nvida (no dis to thier cards) to play FF XI?

Sounds like they are trying to hold the consumer hostage and make us compatable with them instead of them being compatable with us.

    Lemme guess, Windows XP right?

I suppose there's a big IF in quality IF you are using a dial-up connection.

This means central servers, bandwidth problems, STREAMING - yuck! I mean, you can't even save.....well, you can if you have a 3rd party audio recorder - record the stream and then convert it into an MP3. But that's what Winamp and Shoutcast are for.

  7. Re:Good! on RIAA Wants Taxpayer-Funded IP Police · · Score: 1

Downloading illegally isn't the problem nor the responsibility of the RIAA, nor the software makers. It is the people who own the networks to make sure thier very plainly stated EUL is aggreed with and enforced. With every PTP file shareing program I've seen they have something along the lines of "Do not download copywrited works that you don't own. It is YOUR responsibility to comply with this. It is out of our hands because we have no way of monitoring what goes on, we are simply a card-catalog of IP addresses. HOWEVER if you do download illegally then this EUL agreement between the user and X company will be terminated and the program and all it's backups should be destroyed." This situation is nothing of the RIAA's buisness. It is out of thier hands and they can not do anything about it. Thus the reason WinMX or KaZa or Morpheous hasn't been slapped any lawsuits. Because they got past Napster's fatal flaw. Further more taxpayers should not be forced to pay for any private orginization's security or copywrite issues. Those creeps make over $14 billion a year, they can support thier own enforcement. Public funds should NOT be used in the private buisness sector. That is what defines the difference between public and private. Last time I checked it wasn't www.RIAA.gov, but www.RIAA.COM .

  8. Piracy on What Turns You Off About Evaluation Software? · · Score: 1

I'm going solely by the things I've heard and basic human nature of piracy. I would guess that if the person likes it they might spread it illeagaly. They think this user name and password would be traceable to them. All of the sudden you get 5 dozen copies regisering in with the same name/password combo. You know you have some piracy. It can be traced to the originator and thus another lawsuit is brought about. Again this is all in theory, but I think it fits the basic persona of a pirate.
