Just a bit of information on the Peppered Moths that you were talking about. This is not going to disprove Evolution, but the lengths that people go to trying to prove something often makes me think it's likely not to be true.

Had the same problem, you need to set the sample rate to 48KHz IIRC... then the ds-xg sounds nice.
Btw, the oss ds-xg drivers don't have the same quality or functionality as alsa..

Agreed... For linux users you really can't go past nvidia.

It's all Javascript detection though so turning that off actually lefts you view some sort of page. I also found out that if just go to:
