When I had to do it myself the steps were:

    1. javac *.java

Now if I use the website:

    1. go to website
    2. do a bunch of clicking to upload the files
    3. save the files

    Wow! That's so much easier!

Actually, I believe IBM does produce a large amount of the G4s. They were making the copper G4s. They also produced a large quantity of the G3s. So they have the manufacturer correct, sort of. However they person who wrote the title may be indeed a little confused. I suppose this could mean that the G5 isn't fair away though.

  16. NAPSTER killed the RIAA on Copyright Infringement In the News · · Score: 0, Offtopic

Napster obviously killed the RIAA. They barely had enough money to pay mobs of lawyers to sue people. Forget the fact that year after napster was shut down that record sales was lower than any of the years while napster was in use. I believe I saw this in some infoporn. And liebowitz says that file sharing could be good for the music industry

I Personally mis napster, it was so much easier to actually get what you wanted than using gnutella, and I don't dare install kazaa. Obviously record sales must be hurting even more now to pay for all of the politicians they are buying off.

Sure piracy is bad. But I've never heard of an industry attacking it's customers. The RIAA might suggest that they're attack the people who aren't paying, while in reality somebody has to be buying the CDs to rip them. I believe It's not like the music companies are an oligopaly so there's plenty of good old competition there.

  17. Joint Photographic Experts Group on Suddenly a JPEG Patent and Licensing Fee · · Score: 3, Informative

Doesn't JPEG stand for Joint Photographic Experts Group ? Isn't this the group that came up with the JPEG format in the first place?

According to JPEG what most of us believe to be JPEG files are actually JFIF which are royalty free thanks to C-Cube Microsystems. So Forgent Might not be due that much in royalties after all.

This might be a good thing after all. The restrictions on GIFs spawned a much better file format (PNG). This could do the same for Lossy Images.
