    How many mac users actually built there own mac. Probably not many as it's almost impossible. Also, macs are increasingly moving to the PC market. Mac users....get off your high horse.

    Please think of OS X users as either A) a designer who thinks that OS X is Photoshop and Quark with email, or B) an academic/teacher who just wants students to do the work and can't be bothered to learn about the OS.

    Right now if you found a hole in low privilege context code you could use it to get admin access in OS X; this is a serious problem and it makes the UNIX security model, which Apple gives as the reason for OS X's great security, useless.

    Quite true. And if, say... you "found a hole" in the security systems at Fort Knox, you'd be able to walk away with lots of gold. By your reasoning, every means of securing anything on the planet is useless, as someone could "find a hole" in the securing mechanism.

    The fact is, no one has "found a hole" in the "low privilege context code" of OS X. I think it's unlikely someone will. Time will tell.

    Unfortunately I cannot currently afford a Mac, so I won't.

    I'm amazed the people are still using this excuse.

    New Mac Minis are $500.00. New. From Apple. With OS X and software. New. Not used. New. $500.00.

    Is $500.00 too much to spend to be free of Windows and its associated trevails for good and all?

    Any OS can be set up to be "secure" if you've got security conscious expert users and limited needs.

    Such as users scanning for naughtyware 24/7, living in stark terror of opening any email attachment? What the hell are "limited needs"?

    We've all heard the argument. Yes, a Windows box can be made secure. Leave it unplugged, or spend your time patching and scanning.

    When the spastic chimps in Redmond make a better mousetrap, I'll buy it. Gladly. Until that day, I'll use OS X. And laugh my ass off.

    I have a bank account, that handles online transactions, but only in "I fucking E" !!! I have to find a win box that is secure enough to make my transactions.... that sucks dirty ass.... next time, think before posting, just for a minute...

    It's because the latter is a known quantity by the holder of the ID, the former is an unknown. If a clerk at a cash register asks to see your photo ID, it's normally not a problem. If a shifty looking individual in a trenchcoat, porkpie hat, and eye mask (kinda like this guy) asks for same, you're likely to balk.

    The difference is that without RFID, you control the access to your info. With RFID, Boris the Burglar, not you, decides if he gets your specs.
