    One should look at something that they're doing considering GLBT people and replace the word "gay" with "black", "homosexual" with "african-american", "gay culture" with "hip-hop culture", etc, and see if what you're stating sounds horribly racist. If it does, don't do it.

    Being black isn't a lifestyle - being gay is, so what's your point?

    Please explain what possible strategic value these businesses have that require us to artificially sustain them.     Once you identify yourself then the officer is conducting an investigation into the authenticity of the information which you have given him. In pursuit of that investigation he can demand to see proper ID. If you do not produce the requested ID you can be ticketed for obstruction of justice.

    No he can't. This was explicitly denied in the Hillel decision. You are not, after all, required to have ID. I'm sorry, but your cops were just dicks.

    Since when am I obligated to help a police officer in his duties? He isn't required to even show up if I call 911.

    I remember hearing (quick ref: http://talkleft.com/new_archives/006987.html) that you *are* required to show ID on demand by a law enforcement officer. I know around here (in NY) you *will* be arrested if you refuse.

    No you aren't. You are required to identify yourself, which is different.

    I think the problem here isn't more women in tech - it is a liberal hatred of men and women. They try to make men act more feminine, and try to make women act more masculine rather than just accepting that men and women are different, should be different, and complement each other rather than compete with each other. IMHO, there are too many political interests that absolutely hate that because it leads to a stable family system, and that leads to less dependence on welfare, public freebies, and government programs.

    How did this irrelevant screed get a +4?

    It is ironic then that the feminists who advocate gender equality in the workplace are the same ones who assert that a career is more important than the traditional woman's role of instilling values in children.

    That's not irnoy, it's a distortion of their position: they assert that a career should be as much of an option for women as for men. The distortion comes from people who are unwilling to see men in a role of raising children, and therefore view the position as devaluing childrearing. Short version: you're projecting.

    Nope, you still have each and every right outlined in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It's just that the governement is going to listen to the call if they have probable cause to think you might be a terrorist.

    See, that's the controversy - the government needs a warrant, not probable cause and they aren't getting them. It's not that they're being denied, they just can't be bothered.

    What a pansy. He wants to create a de facto abortion ban, but can't because it's been ruled legal, so he tries to tax it to death. We so need precedent that recognizes and bans this sort of behavior.
