    Given the fastest supercomputer today runs at over 1PFLOPS, it's quite silly to claim that something a thousand times slower is a supercomputer.

    Not at all. number 500 on the top 500 list is only about 17 times faster than the peak performance on this box, so you could take 40 of them and wire them to a gig switch and have a hope in hell of being in the top 500.

    Then we have the 1400 Watt toaster ovens, and 1500 Watt space heaters.

    In the US, standard circuits are 15A@110V, so that 1500W space heater + anything else = tripped circuit.

    An asprin a day has nothing to do with headaches and such. Asprin (typically an 81mg daily dose) is a cheap and effective mild blood thinner with relatively minimal side effects and has been studied extensively for decades.

    Mild effects? Sure, unless you take too many, or take Vicodin or have liver/kidney problems. Then it can kill you dead.

    If you're big enough, you can run in N+1 capacity - lose a DC and your servers get hotter. Even a scaled version of the site somewhere else can keep you limping for a bit. Depends on what exactly you're doing, as with everything.

    Seriously, that's crap - what developing nations need is stable government that isn't murderous, the rule of law, and access to clean water, education, etc. Broadband is fairly low on the list.

    Is it really immoral if you're trying to pin someone down for harm done to society? (The potential for abuse is high which is why it's illegal, but illegal doesn't automatically mean immoral.)

    Yes. The rules are in place to ensure an adequate defense. The whole idea that the ends justify the means is corrosive to a free society.

    Even under strict GPL, HTC is ONLY required to release the source to people who have actually bought the phone. When exactly did the Hero go on sale?

    As I recall, they're required to either ship with source or release the code to all who ask for it.

    MR-S is a wonderful car that is cursed by a lack of aftermarket support. Shame, too - you can dial one up to about 250BHP before you need to add aero.

    As far as braking and accel goes, i'd imagine the stick is pull back for accel and push forward for braking. At least I hope. This way overbraking due to decel will be the issue, which tech like ABS should help with. Which is better, in theory then underbraking.

    And the panic response is to yank the thing in the direction you want to go. Hmm, problem...

    of course, the computer doesn't know why you're turning so hard, so maybe you're screwed anyway. IME, the big problems with sharp turns are: going too fast and then trying to brake and turn at the same time (sorry, try again) and the panic-brake before you do anything else. Every driver should take a basic skills course (stops, slalom, skidpad) every few years at least.

    Are you mad? If you want to host email and http, get a coloed box or some managed hosting. Way cheaper than the telco's plan and more reliable too. Also, you won't have to deal with crappy bandwidth.
